Not the David Villa theme again - him and Torres don't play well together - FACT!

They seem to do the business up front for Spain, though.

Top class players will always find a way to make a partnership work - fact.

David Villa,David Silva, Juan Mata, Lionel Messi......  :D

Realistically, I'd be happy with Arda Turan and Simon Kjær being brought in. Also a decent left back to rotate with Insua would be good.

That is some joke people saying Villa and Torres don't play well together, I actually think they are currently the best strike force in World football. Spain have been the top team in World football for the last couple of years and this is down on a major part to this strike force.

Will someone answer me why successive Spanish managers Aragones and now Del Bosque have continually played them if they don't play well together.

I don't know how someone can say it is a fact they don't play well together when there strike rate is second to none. Torres mightn't score as much as Villa but his presence as Villa said last week creates the space.

most of Spain's best moments have come when one or the other (generally Torres) hasn't been playing (although Villa didn't play in the Euro final)

I'd love Villa and Silva but it won't happen unless we get some astonishing investment soon and we finish fourth.

Imagine this though as our forward six:

                      Masch
      Yossi/Maxi            Silva
                     Gerrard
            Torres           Villa

Ah well, we can all dream.....

Ideally i'd like Zidane (10-15 years younger though) to play from left wing.

I really think a combination of Turan or Mata and a centreback/left back is possible. Im trying to remain optimistic that some money will be available somehow by summer.

I remian convinced that we will be sold soon.

Didn't we have this debate raging all last summer, and apart from Johnson and Aquliani who were direct replacements for outgoing players, we got f**K all.
This summer's going to be chaotic with about 15 players going to the world cup, and coming back drained. But Manure Chelsea, Arsenal will all be in the same boat.
Would like to see likes of Pacheco, Ngog Benayoun and Aquilani (who i hope doesnt make Italian squad) building up their strength and fitness in time for the middle of August.
It's patently obvious we need a proven covering striker, plus a left sided midfielder and even a new centre half as Carra is not getting any younger, also a left back. But as i said at the start i wouldnt hold my breath for any of these.
The two strikers who have impressed me this season though are Diamenti and Zamora, think these are 2 class act's who would fit in well, but that is just my personal opinion

In September or October Purslow said there'd be new investment within 6 moths so we could have new owners before the summer window opens.

For starters we're getting Jovanovic who can play as a striker and as a left-winger.

He did say that but from th limited infromation thats come out H&G are rejected offers to buy thr whole club in favour of their stupid 25% idea. SO we may be waiting till July we RBS repossess us before a buyer takes over. I find it har ro believe RBS won't have buyers waiting in the wings.

As I said, Purslow said we're basically up for sale. Nobody will come in for 25% or 50% for 100M.

If they offer 100% to take on the debt plus around 80 mil, I reckon they'd leave happily tbh.

But what bothers me in relation to summer transfers is that we lose out on players because there will be all the change over in people at the club. Turan and Mata aren't that expensive as far as i've read but if we are stuck in a situation where H&G are spending 2 months selling the club they won't be interested in letting Rafa sign.

Bascially we need to get rid of them asap.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the new owners of Man City weren't hesitant in spending money when they took over.

Any new owners will know what state the clubs debts are etc. and if they come in knowing this, they will want the best for the club.

Success is dependant on investment, whether that be from grassroots level or in the first team squad, we have a youth system full of promising young players now all we need is proper investment in our 1st team.

If new owners appear, it will be because they are interested in the club and how it does financially and in terms of trophies. So new owners = the success we've been waiting on.

No point buying back a player we sold off before, he doesn't fit into our setup.

Warnock from Villa, Silva and Jovanovic.

O'Neill would never sell us anyone, especially not one of his top players this season. Warnock said he regretted not leaving Liverpool sooner so Im sure most Liverpool fans wouldn't want him back.

Silva is unrealistic, he's worth around £30m now and if he has a good WC then his valuation will rise.
