Maybe for most this would seem like a knee jerk, but I've been thinking; was it the correct decision to sell Dossena, especially at the time we did? I'm no so sure about that as we are now playing with a beleaguered "promising" LB in Insua. I get the feeling even if Aurelio returns we wont see an extended run in the league by him, by no stretch of the imagination; he's certainly quality and certainly our number 1. Sadly, he since he's been here, always has struggled to fight off his proneness to injuries. With that in mind, the selling of Dossena has left us short with the ever willing, and ever short, Insua. Short of speed, depth, defence, height, and most importantly wisdom. Not really knocking the lad, for with the exception of height he can improve all these things. But, at the moment we still need some security at left back. I am not saying Dossena is anything great at defending. I am wondering if we sold ourselves short in selling him.
Even if his intentions were geared towards playing better for the World Cup, did we really need the money that we sold him for? I don't know, as far as I am concerned that must have been a straight split in to numb nuts pockets. Given the fact we knew of Aurelio being prone to injury, were we giving too much responsibility to the young Insua? One thing I know for sure, at the moment; he's a definite liability, one that we could have avoided. Again, I make mention, why sell him if we were not prepared to get an adequate replacement? For it would seem that buying a him, or even any left back at that matter; at the time we did made no sense. Or maybe it did, but perhaps we sold him at the wrong time. I'm not certain who we can afford at left back right now, but I think realistically, he would've been doing a better job in the squad with an extended run like Insua is having. Well, he may have set his mind on leaving, but not replacing is no excuse. Who should we get or give a run?
