Final Fantasy XIII

Got this the other day. Only played it for half an hour but it is looking quite promising. Feels like a bit of a throwback to the FF7 days, which is a very very good thing.

Anyone else got this yet, and have enough free time to post about it?

I started playing it last night, didnt play long though. Seemed good but to early to say. The cinematics are outstanding.

My mate said he was enjoying it early on but it hadn't really kicked into action yet.

He text me the next day to say Square Enix were intercepting his texts and it had immediately livened up. Every time I turn my PS3 on he's on it.

I'm about 3 or 4 hours into it and loving it.

been playing this all week... its enjoyable but no FFVII.

It seems a little linear too, a lot of running through thin corridors!

but its fun, and beatiful to look at

That's like saying Bradford is no Liverpool.

It's shaping up to be better than a lot of Final Fantasy's, but I think it will be impossible to ever make a better one than VII. I'd love a PS3 remake. 

Started playing this again lastnight, mainly due to my internet being off so my planned COD-fest went down the pan.

Blessing in disguise though. It is an epic game and I made a bit more progress. I don't think I'm up to the lively bits either, which makes it all the better.

I feel like crying, I was playing FFVIII and doing a perfect game, 30 hours in and my ps3 crashes for the 3rd time, and has to be replaced... lost all my progress! GRRRR what I F***ing joke... no way am I gonna play another 30 hours all over again, gonna have to start it again in a year.

The same happen when playing Final Fantasy XIII, my computer crashed while playing that... but I'll start that again now!

I have the game, played it for about 24 hours which lead me to chapter 11 which is where the game opens up. I like the game but it isn't near the classics like FF3 or FF7. Not enough open world for my liking.

It is very linear compared to older Final Fantasy games.

Is there a world map as such that you can roam? Haven't reached it yet if there is one.

Is right. Sounds like FF of old then.

I was grossly misinformed about the side missions, really there is only 64 missions but it does eat up a bit of time. Just reach the end of Chapter 12 but once I beat this boss I am going to have to go back to Gran Pulse to complete some more missions (done 25) so I get more CP to beat the final boss.

I progressed a bit further like but I'm not out in the open yet. No better feeling than when you reach a world map on Final Fantasy. In gaming terms, mind.

I got around to finishing the game off the other day, I would say it wasn't a classic FF game like FF3 or FF7 but it was pretty good. Still have a few missions to do back in gran pulse so I will still be grinding some hours on the game yet

Just fought the Midlight Reaper and then Brynhildr, which both took a few goes taking me to the wee hours of the morning.

Starting to think it has replay value. Always good in a game.

Addictive little game that. My brother in law spends all his time on it our on the web searching for bonus'

Tonights another night on this for me I think. Going to give COD a chance to let the new maps into full circulation rather than just resurgence (sh*te at anything other than Domination and TDM )

Also been reading up on Final Fantasy Versus XIII too. Completely new story, new world (I think, more like reality I've heard) and there is a confirmed FFVII-esque world map where you can control vehicles, including an airship. Sounds good.
