I noticed Rooney was coming deep to get the ball, and I said exactly that at half time, that even Gerrard needs to come deep. Our passing was wasteful, we couldn't get the ball forward. Nando screwed up bug chances, seemed to be playing slightly nervously then, and if Nando falters, I think its just a summation of our day.

Disappointing, especially with the way Gerrard has played.

Rafa did his job unlike the players and we've only made things harder for ourselves.

Don't even get me started on the F***ing referee. Hopeless.

United did F**k all apart from that cross in the second half. We had two golden chances in that last ten minutes to score.

Shame - but we made a better fist of it than I thought we would have done a month ago.

I don't get all this disappointed with the way Gerrard played malarkey to be honest, in his position he is only as good as the service he receives which was diabolical, you want to start pointing fingers point at the midfield as they were clueless.

I'd stick Reina at left back if he weren't so damn good.

You've managed to keep your head through all the sh*te this season, and now we lose to a team who are top of the League you melt down?

What gets under my skin much more than losing to United, is losing to far worse teams as many times as we have done this season.

When you go out with the orders to contain it's hard to turn to an attacking unit , the season has been a disaster and we have nothing to lose so the ultra caution is a joke , second half we never done nothing until they scored instead of going for it .

Gutted, we didn't turn up the 2nd half at all.

I think that was the key difference today. Rooney was getting himself involved, Gerrard wasn't. Another poor display from our club captain.

no complaints from me - the best team won.
Their passing was much better today and their wingers/full backs carried a threat - something generally missing from our play.
As much as I dont think you can be too critical of the team, I think our main players (Masch,Kuyt,Gerrard and Torres) didn't really show up, and once again I would have liked to see a bit more ambition in our play.

On a positive I thought we defended well - particuarly Agger (apart from a half mistake for the goal)

Agreed Gerrard was invisible most of the time, but no point giving him all the flack guys. He was in a far too forward position and we just couldn't get the ball to him much. Don't forget, he did create both those chances for Torres to score, after all!
But I still feel, he should have played slightly more deep, that would have helped big time.

But we weren't bad. Showed a lack of belief in the second half, but the referee's display in the first half may have something to do with that. How do you keep believing when everything goes against you and Neville is allowed to kick people in the head.

Still, expected more from the subs.
