Nicolas Pareja (Espanyol)

Liverpool are reported to be interested in Espanyol defender Nicolas Pareja.

 Rafa Benitez the Liverpool manager is looking to add to his side within a restricted budget and Pareja who would cost in the region of €6 Million is seen as an ideal acquisition.

Benitez seems to have a thing for Argentinian players and Pareja would be the fifth Argentinian at Anfield joining Javier Mascherano, Maxi Rodriguez, Emiliano Insua and Gerardo four fellow countrymen already in place at Anfield.

Pareja had been previously tracked by Tottenham but it was Espanyol that won the race to sign the 26 year old in 2008 and while they would be loathe to part with Pareja reports are that the player wants to play in the Premiership and Liverpool would be his perfect destination.

Time will tell how close to accuracy the reports linking Pareja to Anfield are.

We don't need him. About time we started spending our money on players we actually need. Yet another average player we have been linked to.
