      UAE try to lure Rafa
      May 23, 2010 05:21:32 pm
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is being offered £5million to quit Anfield and manage the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE want to capitalise on Benitez’s uncertain future in England by making him an offer they hope he cannot refuse.

The Gulf oil state hope to raise their profile worldwide by appointing Benitez, just as they did 33 years ago when they lured then England manager Don Revie.

Benitez would be given a £5m ‘Golden Hello’ and a salary to match his £4m-a-year contract at Liverpool. A free mansion on Dubai’s exclusive Palm Island would also be thrown in.

The offer may be seriously considered by Benitez, whose relationship with the board and players at Anfield is at an all-time low after a fourth successive season without a trophy and failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Don't think he'd be interested at all to be honest.

Seen it myself earlier and dismissed it.

Who wouldn't, but like you said Rafa will eventually return to Spain whether that be for Madrid or the National team, but for now his future is with us.

Its also the Mail. I imagine they are almost as popular with England fans. As the Scum is with ours.

Why would a guy at his management peak, take what is essentially a retirement job?

      Give it to Hodgson ;)

The other day the media had Maradonna linked with managing us and now they are linking Rafa with UAE, they must have been told to change the record a bit.

If they're that rich and they want Rafa so bad, let's tell them to come and buy Liverpool instead  ;)

Liverpool's Rafael Benítez rubbishes UAE rumours

The Liverpool manager, Rafael Benítez, has rubbished reports claiming he has been offered a lucrative package to quit Anfield and become coach of the United Arab Emirates national team.

After the club's worst Premier League finish for 11 years the Spaniard has found himself having to field questions about his future almost every day.

However, Benítez said, as he has done consistently, that he wishes to remain at Liverpool. He has four years left on a deal signed last season and, providing he receives positive feedback from the Reds chairman Martin Broughton on the sale of the club and what finances he will have available this summer, Benítez intends to honour that contract.

"I was very surprised to read about this story [being offered the UAE coaching job] but it seems more and more as if they keep happening from somewhere," Benítez told the Liverpool Echo. "I am very happy here in Liverpool. I have always been happy and I want to stay here for a long time – if it is possible."

Rafa must get so tired of fending off this sort of crap on a daily basis.
