Reds release duo but Goalkeeper signs new contract

Christopher Oldfield and Robbie Threlfall will leave Liverpool when their contracts expire on June 30.

 The young duo - neither of whom have made a competitive first-team appearance - join Fabio Aurelio and David Martin in being released.

Meanwhile, Australian stopper Dean Bouzanis has committed his future until June 2012.

Five others have been offered fresh terms: David Amoo, Sean Highdale, Steven Irwin, Alex Kacaniklic and Andras Simon.

Sad to see Robbie leave. Thought he could have been a good wee player. Don't know anything about Oldfield. Good luck to both.

It is good to see Bouzanis sign a new contract. He could be good asset to have for the future.

Lets hope Amoo signs his new deal, looks a promising player.

Really? Reina signed an extension earlier in the season.

Think a lot of people had Threlfall nailed on to come through the ranks a couple of years back. Shame he hasn't been able to make it.

The ones offered a new deal always had a much better chance of making it than the 2 released anyway. But I don't expect to see any of these pushing for the first team any time soon.

I want to c Simon come through...got built up quite alot when we first signed him...had a lot of injuries i think i remember.
Just want to see more youngsters being given their chance and taking it
