Disagree. I think he's terrible with the deep back line tactics, but in a higher line I think he and Carragher are competing for the 2nd CB spot.

Strange looking formation. A bit Football Manager like?
It looks good but would it work.
I dont like the idea of 3 central defenders but it would give a bit offreedom for the two wing backs to get forward.

I don't think we have any widemen, and few players can rip in crosses from out wide consistently, but I do think we have it with Johnson and Aurelio. We're also, when health, rather deep through the middle of the park, both in midfield and defense, so I'd play to those strengths. With 2 Wingbacks giving us width, we wouldn't get caught out with 3 central defenders back.

It would never happen but I think with the strengths of our players it makes some sense.

I would hope we can rectify those problems though this summer.

Then play either 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1.

I like the look of that as well. Personally I'd drop Kuyt, and pop Pacheco or Cole in there in his place, but overall I agree with you that would be close to our best XI.

For me it would be the 4-2-3-1 we were very successful with

That in my opinion is a first 11 good enough to beat most teams and easily get into the top 4 .

Its a shame Hodgson will never play it though
