The Game - Neil StraussThis is probably the best book I've ever read and one that I genuinely had trouble putting down.
Neil Strauss is an auther, ghost writer and journalist for the New York Times who has written biographies for the likes of Marilyn Manson, Anthony Keidis (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Mötley Crue. He was once approached by someone asking him to investigate a 'clan' of pick-up artists and write a report on them. He repeatedly ignored the request until he eventually decided he had nothing better to do.
On meeting these 'artists', he was soon fascinated with the idea that you could learn routines that would enable you to pick up women from all different classes, from all over the world. In time, Neil himself became regarded as one of, if not THE best Pick-up Artists around and went by the name of 'Style'.
In the book, Strauss details this journey, the people he meets, the tricks he learns, his own transformation and the pit-falls of this new lifestyle. Along the way he meets Tom Cruise, Courtney Love, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears amongst others and you get a great insight into what they are really like.
The book can be seen as an autobiography, a journalistic report, a training guide or a story but either way, it is an incredible piece of writing and at times, extremely funny.
Don't be put off by the subject matter, it may seem a little seedy but you'll be fascinated, whether you're male or female. Some of you may even be tempted to try the techniques described! There is also a twist at the end that I didn't see coming.
I would urge anyone with the slightest interest in books buy this, you'll get it to your door for around a fiver.
