Carra's Testimonial: A Window Of Opportunity?
      Sep 05, 2010 07:31:47 pm
I had expected more discussion on this. Maybe it needed its own heading to start it. . . We saw a lot of players get a run out, but I would think there was a chance to try out some of the younger players in formation. I think we saw some very good young players putting their cases forward. Ecclesston, Amoo, Spearing, Shelvey, Wisdom, Ayala, Coady, Sterling and Suso all got game time. They played some good football and it was a great chance to give them game time. We also saw Cole get time in the centre and Babel up front. Some positivity for us to discuss. . . In particular with the obvious lack of strenght we have up front its good to see Babel link up well with Eccleston and Amoo

I know we have some pretty good youngsters, and always good to see Cole getting some game-time before he has served his 3-match ban, & score a goal!

But its up to Roy to actually play them, allow them to link up & show us what their made of- at the moment, with the players, their positions & game time, we may aswell still play to Rafas game!

Going to be hard to play different style, but with the new signings Cole Jovo Miereles up front the new blood may make the transition easier, that coupled with pachecco and a few others may speed the process up even more.

I know. Was naming players off the top of my head. Robinson also played. Jones also made some good saves in the second half.

Garcia's and Cole's Goals were very good.

The BS were dresdful and I mean dreadful.

Nice to see Dudek too. Heskey, I just think he is too big/tall. May have been a better player if he was fust smaller.

Owen (boo - cheer - boo - cheer! If you were there you know what I mean) was I guess unlucky not to score, and fair play he tried.

You do have a point actually. For all the talk of the derby the game was very one sided at times. Even so it should be a boost for a lot of the young players in our ranks

Also surprised that Carra's Testimonial did'nt get more of a reaction on here.I for one enjoyed it immensly (had to record it due to work)Yep it was one sided, but seeing old and new faces out there knocking it about was very entertaining.
Have to say Babel showed REAL class at times,Joe Cole smiled throughout and performed well.ALL the youngsters done themselves proud.Jonjo Shelvey is I'm sure going to be a big hit.Dare I say it !Jay Spearing what an engine that lads got.Like Dirk Kuyt but  with seemingly better control/passing/vision.Loved Carra's special "own goal".And just a quick positive for Brad Jones.Great reflexes.
Anyway lots of money earned for local charities and long may the LEGEND of Carragher continue.

I think discussion of the game got put in quite a few of the Carra related topics that have been floating around to be fair.

Raised 1M for charity apparently. Well done Carra you legend. 100 per cent Liverpool and not just in the sense of the club. A proper role model unlike some of the modern day football scum that are nothing more than self centred kids that never grew up. Hope he stays at the club and teaches the younger players how to handle themselves on and off the pitch
