Even the commentators mentioned it, Roy looks out of his depth.  Every time we see him on the touchline, he looks clueless.

Good couple of saves there from Brad Jones before the second goal.

"But we didn't and all I can do is congratulate Northampton and apologise to everyone."

"I have to say, Northampton were clearly better than one would have expected from a team playing where they play."

      "We must give them credit."

"We knew they were quite a good team from watching them, but I honestly believed with the quality of players we had on the field, with both international and Barclays Premier League experience, we would be good enough to win the game - but we weren't."

      and finally ...

"But we weren't and that's because we didn't play well enough, didn't pass the ball well enough throughout the game and you must give some credit to Northampton who worked extremely hard and I'm sure they'll go away feeling they have stolen nothing here tonight and were worth their victory."

I think of all people, Hodgson should be the most worried man tonight.

Winning the Carling Cup would have ended our 4 season drought and that probably would have saved him.
The FA Cup and the Europa are much harder trophies to win, especially if he's gona stick to this rotation system in cup games.

There's no point in even mentioning that we shouldn't have sacked Rafa -  because everyone who slated him is too stubborn to admit that he overachieved and that he's a F***ing brilliant manager.
Hodgson is similar to Harry Redknapp (A press favourite) in the sense he's a straight talking old fashioned English manager, so no-one will have the courage to back Rafa over him.

He's started his job very disappointingly and I'm starting to get the impression he's not got what it takes at a big club.

Please please prove me wrong Roy.

Going by our league form at the moment this could have potentially been the easiest way of at least getting some European Football next season.

Thats the sad thing mate, it wasn't even a reserve side, half of our team were internationals.
The fact they couldnt brush aside a second division side is embarissing.

Something seriously going wrong at this football club.
But I spose none of us need a rocket scientist to realise that.

For those slating our youth system after this. Kelly, Pacheco, Shelvey and Eccleston were the only positives I will take from this game. They had better movement and awareness than all bar Dagger tonight. Some of our senior players cruised through this game until it was too late. We scored early and then a lot of senior/fringe players switched off until the second half of extra time

The biggest problem I have here is not the lineup he played, that team Roy sent out there should have been able to win the game.
I really have a problem with the fact he had NO BENCH.

Why can't Torres be on the bench , ya know , just in case it's 1-1 at 70 mins. Nando goes out maybe could get a goal or two against a weak opposition. Maybe help him regain is form again.
There is no negative for having him on the bench. Even Miereles or Cole (he missed a bunch of games shouldn't be tired). Roy left himself no cover in case things went wrong. That's a rookie mistake.

First of all I love the Reds, I really love them, I feel them, I suffer them but I can not tolerate one single thing: people that don't play 110% for the club..
Ngog, Lucas, Babel and some others must step aside.
The reserve players must play in the reserve, if you want to win something you have to play the best that you've got.
      I want results not excuses.

We have no divine right to beat anyone...regardless of their position in the league...Northampton were better than both steau and Trab...

The Liverpool team that played tonight weren't as good as Northampton,it reminded me very much like the FA cup tie at home against Reading, quite simply out played by a better team.

I will only comment on games i go to watch and comment on this i feel i must, because Liverpool tonight were second rate in every department more worryingly tonight's team is the bulk of the squad and there really were no positives....

How many times does Babel have to show the world he is not good enough? or Nogog who's touch is just beyond talking about now...Kelly looked slow, for him was it just one of those nights?

Northampton were young and vibrant and more importantly hungry....self assured all their players were comfortable on the ball and passed  very well and would you believe it to each other.....though Liverpool didn't really do much wrong they didn't really do anything...there was no urgency and only when some fans started to get on their backs did they step it up but by then it was to late, the damage had been done and to take victory away from Northampton would have been very unfair....

A message to Roy....Look a bit further down our own domestic leagues and you will find a couple of decent lads....I don't believe you don't think that there is no one good enough further down the divisions....i know there is,so get those scouts out or do it yourself because tonight you seen for yourself there are better players than what you have at your disposal.

Just a note....the Northampton fans were fantastic and a credit to their club they created a wonderful atmosphere....LIVERPOOL FANS WE HAVE LOST OUR SPIRIT AND LOVE FOR THE GAME,OUT FOUGHT OUT SHOUTED OUT SUNG....

If you only go there to see walk over's and wins i can understand your frustration but if like me you go to see a match then you can only admire the away teams performance tonight as everyone of Northampton Towns players were better than a second rate, second string soon to be loaned out and given away and sold cheaply Liverpool team...

There was one good thing that came from tonight's game though....a few of the players in the Losing Liverpool team found out If they didn't know already their are not good enough and never will be...We knew already Roy.

Surely  this adds to the argument that we should field our strongest team whoever the opposition is.I think our manager has to be held accountable for this loss,a loss we can ill afford.

In defense of Roy you lot where all requesting that we play a team full of juniors and he did that and we lost.

And now he is in the wrong because he didn't play enough "big name" players?

We should never have lost to Northampton though , its almost embarrassing to be a Liverpool supporter atm.
