Went go-karting this afternoon so missed the game.  My arms are dead, got a huge burst blister on my left hand and finished second behind a 13 year old girl...but that was nothing compared to getting minute by minute updates of this game.

Can't comment how the match went but reading through this thread is depressing no end.  And the sad thing is, I'm not even shocked.  I knew I'd be missing the game and had a feeling I'd be reading through comments like these today. :(

Johnson, Skrtel, Poulsen, Kuyt, Jovanovich and Maxi are a f**king hindrance to this club. And if they were sold tomorrow, it wouldn't be a day too soon. Gerrard and Carragher are meant to be the local lads who drag us through these difficult times, oh it's alright for them to talk in the press. How about lads, you get off your arse and do some talking on the pitch.

Johnson is so good attacking. I have finally succumbed to the popular believe that he would be a major threat as a right winger.
Jovanovic is a good squad player. 54 goals in 4 years at Liege? the manager MUST be playing him totally wrong!!!!

However, Maxi and Poulsen don't offer much.

No he wouldn't. This great attacking threat offered us nothing today and all season for that matter.

So what if he scored in Belgium? He's not scoring here. No matter what position he's played in, that doesn't excuse his sh*t control, crossing and shooting.

No disrespect to Blackpool, but today's result was the equivalent of finishing behind a 13 year old girl.

Top class sport is hugely reliant on confidence our problem now is everyone is confident they can beat us.

Next up is the Derby and all I can see is an Everton win because they do have the fight in them, they do play for each other and they'll be so f**king determined to give us a helping hand in ensuring our demise continues. Unless by some miracle Hodgson can install some passion in this bunch of lackluster uncaring overpaid overhyped waste of space players, we're truly fu**ed.

I doubt RH knows about the rivalry or derby between Liverpool and Everton.. He is not a fan of Liverpool F.C.

Ray Kennedy was a striker and Bob Paisley played him anywhere but a striker. He turned out to be a F***ing world beater as a left sided midfielder.

On the positive side of things our next 'match' is the most important in our history and I'm talking about the one that isn't played on the field.  Focus all attention on stopping Hicks refinancing and when he's gone, the rest will fall into place - we wouldn't be in this scenario if they weren't our "custodians".

No football to talk about for a few weeks and if we solve this boardroom issue, then we can hopefully get back to talking about nothing else but football.

edit: For the last time Jovanovic is NOT a striker.  He played in the same position as Babel, the left prong in a 3 man attack - sometimes what you'd consider to be a striker will play there while they bide their time in an effort to become the 'main striker' but other times left midfielders who are very attacking get pushed up there as well.  Different systems, different positions etc.

Since Jovanovic is not Ray Kennedy, and cannot be a world beater as a left sided midfielder... Why don't just stick Jovanovic as a striker?..

Because we play one up front - Torres. After Torres we have Ngog and Kuyt who are ahead of Jovanovich in the pecking order. Jovanovich is a left footed version of Kuyt, poor winger and not good enough to play up front.

How you know he is not good as striker?.. Has we play him there before?.. what is your fact or evidence saying he is not a good striker?.. Just because he is not a good wingeR?..

The fact that he can't control, doesn't have composure in front of goal, isn't quick, doesn't link up well, isn't tricky enough to lose defenders so on and so on. He doesn't have the attributes to be a forward in this division.
