      Feyenoord beaten 10-0
Dutch leaders PSV Eindhoven inflicted the heaviest ever defeat on former European champions Feyenoord with a 10-0 drubbing at the Philips stadium.

Brazilian Jonathan Reis hit a hat-trick with Ibrahim Afellay, Ola Toivonen, Jeremain Lens (2), Balazs Dzsudzsak (2) and Orlando Engelaar joining in the rout.

Feyenoord, traditionally one of the 'big three' clubs in the country and European Cup winners in 1970, were reduced to 10 men on 34 minutes when midfielder Kelvin Leerdam was sent off.

Their previous worst defeat was an 8-2 loss to Ajax Amsterdam on September 18, 1983

Crazy, crazy stuff. I like Feyenoord (cause of Dirk, I must admit :D), I even have their shirt. I know they are a big club in decline but being beaten by 10-0 is way too much. I feel sorry for their fans.

Yeah, Feyenoord are doing really bad, their financial situation is absolutely awful. As a result they've become fully reliant on youth players. They actually do have some very talented players but they're not able to carry the team yet. They're currently in 16th place, and no hope of any takeover or investors. It's a shame, they have the biggest and most loyal fanbase in Holland.

I've seen it too, and it wasn't that incredible to me at all. Like I said, Feyenoord has major issues, serious debt. So much even that they could go bankrupt and aren't capable of buying any players at all, not even capable of paying wages to take players on loan. As a result they have many young players. They lost experienced players like Van Bronckhorst, Landzaat and Makaay over the summer. Of the few good experienced players left Ron Vlaar(their captain), Jon Dahl Tomasson and Fernandez are injured. Which meant yesterday they had to field 7 players under the age of 20. And before this game they were already 16th in the dutch league. Then very early on in the game their new captain, Leroy Fer, only 20 years old but their best player, drops out with an injury. Then in the 34th minute when PSV is still only 1-0 ahead because of a great goal by Reis a Feyenoord player gets send off with a red card. It doesn't surprise me at all that a young team like that broke down in those circumstances. While PSV is a solid team and has some in form players at the moment, the result gives them way too much credit.

      Here the highlights:

Yeah, Feyenoord currently have the most talented youth players in Holland, I see at least 5 future dutch internationals in their squad, if not more. But they're still too young, inexperienced and inconsistent to perform at this level. Certainly not a game they'll forget. I just hope they won't relegate, that could mean the end of that club.

Crazy thing is, they were thinking of building a new stadium, for a 100.000 people. They're actually capable of filling a stadium like that.

Yeah, he would be. I wouldn't pay alot of money for him though, but considering his contract is running out at the end of the season, on the cheap this winter or for free he'd be a brilliant signing. Can't see him coming here though, he prefers Spain and maybe even Italy too over the EPL. And I know Sneijder is putting in effort to make him come to Inter.

Lot of talk linking him with Inter, he has mentioned us and Utd in an interview as teams he would like to play for. If he is free in the Summer surely around £4 million would be enough in January.

The only thing I can find about that in dutch media is that he apparently told that to The S*n. I rather trust what I've seen him say myself.

I hope so! Deep down i know he won't fit in our team like he would at say, Arsenal, but he is a superb player. Anything under 10m is a steal for him.

He said not long ago (could of been this past week) that he will leave in January so PSV get a good fee for him.

Simple solution tell he is going to Barca, fly him over in the dark to Liverpool get Pepe to wear a wig and meet him at the airport, get him to put pen to paper and its job done.

Yeah, he said that he would cooperate with PSV for them to make a profit on him if they wish to. A small objection with him coming here is that I would prefer a proper winger over him. Afellay excels on central midfield more than on the wings.

He doesn't see Barcelona and Real Madrid as viable options, just as long as it's a step up from PSV. His preference for Spain was more in the light of interest from Atletico Madrid, who have shown interest in him.

We're going completely offtopic here though, maybe this should be turned into the Dutch Eredivisie thread or something? :P

He won't go Barca or Madrid. Mourinho said he doesn't want more players in the window and they sold VDV already in that position so i'd be surprised if he thought he needed another in that position. Barca...nahh.

Inter is feasible considering Rafa is having to use Biabiany consistently and Sneijder is there.

Afellay is a good fit for the Mancs but can they afford him?

Arsenal is the club for him IMO. He would fit in very well there. But i hope we snare him.

I had this conversation with you before Dexter, that i would take him on the left because he won't overtake Gerrard or Cole, but he'd be very good there for us. Not at his best, but still a very valuable player. Hopefully Babel fucks off in the other direction.

Yeah, Sneijder has spoken out in dutch press about wanting to bring Afellay to Inter. Because they connect and understand each other on the field. He also said he recommended him to anyone important at Inter.

And I agree that he'd be a better option on the left for us, but I'd probably start him over Cole too in the middle. Afellay is the kind of player who does unexpected creative things, we really need that, and he's showing alot of growth lately.
