David Beckham is in talks with Los Angeles Galaxy over a possible Premier League loan deal, with Tottenham the favourites to sign the 35-year-old.
Galaxy are likely to release Beckham but he may be restricted to training with a club, BBC Sport understands.
Blackburn and Newcastle are also interested but a move to Spurs, where Beckham trained as a boy, remains most likely for the former England captain.
He could play 11 games before the Major League Soccer season starts in March.
The terms of a move are still being negotiated between Beckham's representatives and the Galaxy.

Said on the radio that Beckham would just train with the team, not play. What's the point of that?

However, if a deal is struck with Tottenham that would allow Beckham to play for the north London outfit, he could face former club Manchester United on 16 January.
The midfielder, whose main English home is in nearby Hertfordshire, trained with Tottenham before signing schoolboy forms with the Red Devils in 1991.
"Spurs are one of many clubs interested - but we have not yet had detailed talks," said a spokesman for Beckham on Monday.
"At the moment we are waiting on the decision of LA Galaxy with regards to a loan move. The loan would be a short one until the start of the MLS season.
"David would then return and play a full season with the Galaxy.
"The loan is part of David's desire to keep fit and make himself available for England again."
However, Beckham may ultimately only train with an English side ahead of his return to the United States for the Galaxy's first match of the season against the Seattle Sounders on 15 March.
In January 1998 he worked out with the Arsenal squad at their London Colney headquarters to keep fit during the American close season.
If its good for Spurs, Arsenal, Ac Milan , Then why not a 3 month loan at liverpool cant see it doing any harm what so ever!
