      Domenico Criscito (Genoa)
      Mar 04, 2011 10:45:34 pm
The "Which left back will be linked to Anfield today?" game continued on Friday, as 24-year-old Italy international Domenico Criscito has now been tipped for a move to Anfield.
According to the Guardian, the Genoa left back "is on his way to Liverpool," though the report appears to be no more substantial than a rumor.
While Criscito may not be as highly-touted a prospect as Benfica's Fabio Coentrao, he is a bigger name than Sweden international Oscar Wendt, Emilio Izaguirre and Jose Enrique, all of whom have recently been linked to Anfield moves.
Criscito has become a fixture at left back for Italy and has been impressive for Genoa in the Serie A. His value, which has consistently risen in recent years, now sits at £10.5 million, according to TransferMarkt.co.uk.

      Have heard of him.

I dont trust players moving from Italy though.

      Look how Dossena turned out?

Criscito has already featured for Italy more times then Dossena has, despite the age difference.

I've always been keen on Criscito, is very versatile. I think he started his career as a centre back and then moved to the left. He is definitely fine going forward, and can even play as a LWB in the system we've employed at times.

For the right price, I'd certainly be giving him a look. Genoa has been one of the best defensive teams in Italy and he's a main reason why.

Good player, been playing as wingback for a little while now. Not sure on him though moving here. Few discrepancies in his game that could stand out more at a bigger club.

I rate him much higher in a normal 4 defense system. Really like him to be honest.

Yeah i like him too. Think he's a good player who deserved a shot at Juve but Chiellini was still playing left back then and was moved on.

I hope he is better scouted than Dossena because watching Milan Juve here and if the pace of the game was any slower they would be going backwards

      Criscito to leave Genoa

      Last Updated: June 2, 2011 10:01pm

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has announced that Domenico Criscito will not stay at the club beyond the summer.

Criscito has spent most of his career with Genoa and has developed into one of the finest left-backs in Serie A, making 14 appearances for Italy.

However, Preziosi recognises that it is now time for the 24-year-old to embark on a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Napoli have been heavily linked with a move for Criscito and Preziosi admits such a switch could materialise, although he is ready to listen to offers from anyone.

"The boy will certainly leave," Preziosi told Radio Kiss Kiss. "He's been at Genoa for some time and it is only right that he moves on to a different club.

"A switch to Napoli? It has been discussed, but I don't see a great amount of interest from the Azzurri for Mimmo.

"As far as I am concerned, I am ready to negotiate and people know where I am."

Good God no. Incidently (and naturally) I've never heard of him. Nor do I want to either. Dossena made paul Konchesky look like Paulo Maldini.

The other way round, Konchesky was far worse than Dossena in every respect.  Not saying either were great, but Dossena was certainly a class above Konchesky.

Yeah he's pretty good in Serie A as he was the year before he joined. Shame it didn't work out here.

Criscito is a very good player. Comparing him to Dossena is stupid as they are nothing alike.

Sorry, but that is nonsense ... Dossena was a wing-back at Udinese, and he plays as a wing-back at Napoli at the moment ... Criscito is a classic full back, and he has even played as a central defender before ... In reality, he is a much better defender than Coentrao, Baines or Enrique ...

Yeah, but hes Italian and plays on the left of defense. So he must be just like Dossena... obviously...  :f_whistle:

Well, it is true that the Italians have never produced a top class left back ...

That Maldini fella was not bad, but not really a LFC standard ... Anyway ...

      Napoli give up on Criscito

      Thursday 23 June, 2011

Napoli won’t complete the transfer of Genoa’s Domenico Criscito, Azzurri chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed.

The two clubs had reached a deal which would see the Italian move to the San Paolo, but they’ve been unable to agree personal terms with the player.

“We liked Criscito and we still do, but I have always been sceptical,” De Laurentiis told Radio Marte.

“If he has a move to Inter or Paris SG on his mind then it is game over. All I can say to him is that Napoli is beautiful, but he already knows that as he is Neapolitan.

“I no longer dream of having a Napoli side full of players from the city, as the minute they leave then it becomes hard for them to return.

“Perhaps they find the pressure of playing for their home-town club a little too much.

“In order to do a deal you need two parties. In this case four have to agree – myself, the Genoa of President whom we have an agreement with, the player and his agent who don’t always have the same ideas.”

Inter could become a serious option for Criscito if former Marassi boss Gian Piero Gasperini is appointed as the new Nerazzurri Coach.

Not bothered. Doesn't have the motor to be an English fullback.

That's about as official as it gets - feel free to lock away mods.

      Domenico Criscito moves to Zenit

Zenit has signed a five-year contract with Italian national team player Domenico “Mimmo” Criscito. The new defender will join the team on July 8th.

Domenico Criscito (stress on the first syllable), a defender, was born in Cercola, near Naples, in southern Italy on December 30, 1986. Criscito debuted in Serie B in June, 2003, playing for Genoa. Criscito played for the Ligurian club until 2007, from where he went to Juventus of Turin, then once again came back to Genoa, where he`s played until now. Criscito has played 100 matches in Serie A altogether and scored 5 goals.

Domenico has been playing for the Italian national team since August, 2009. He`s played 15 matches for the national team, including 3 at the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.

Criscito plays as a defender, usually on the left flank. He`s excellent at stealing the ball (he was one of the best in the Italian league last year in this category), and is able to make excellent passes to his opponents at the right time to start the attack.

Zenit welcomes Domenico to St. Petersburg, and hopes he will have his most important victories as a Zenit player.

:lmao: at the 'stress on the first syllable' comment, sounds awfully strange.
