Yeah, but hes Italian and plays on the left of defense. So he must be just like Dossena... obviously...  :f_whistle:
Well, it is true that the Italians have never produced a top class left back ...

That Maldini fella was not bad, but not really a LFC standard ... Anyway ...

      Napoli give up on Criscito

      Thursday 23 June, 2011

Napoli won’t complete the transfer of Genoa’s Domenico Criscito, Azzurri chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed.

The two clubs had reached a deal which would see the Italian move to the San Paolo, but they’ve been unable to agree personal terms with the player.

“We liked Criscito and we still do, but I have always been sceptical,” De Laurentiis told Radio Marte.

“If he has a move to Inter or Paris SG on his mind then it is game over. All I can say to him is that Napoli is beautiful, but he already knows that as he is Neapolitan.

“I no longer dream of having a Napoli side full of players from the city, as the minute they leave then it becomes hard for them to return.

“Perhaps they find the pressure of playing for their home-town club a little too much.

“In order to do a deal you need two parties. In this case four have to agree – myself, the Genoa of President whom we have an agreement with, the player and his agent who don’t always have the same ideas.”

Inter could become a serious option for Criscito if former Marassi boss Gian Piero Gasperini is appointed as the new Nerazzurri Coach.

Not bothered. Doesn't have the motor to be an English fullback.

That's about as official as it gets - feel free to lock away mods.

      Domenico Criscito moves to Zenit

Zenit has signed a five-year contract with Italian national team player Domenico “Mimmo” Criscito. The new defender will join the team on July 8th.

Domenico Criscito (stress on the first syllable), a defender, was born in Cercola, near Naples, in southern Italy on December 30, 1986. Criscito debuted in Serie B in June, 2003, playing for Genoa. Criscito played for the Ligurian club until 2007, from where he went to Juventus of Turin, then once again came back to Genoa, where he`s played until now. Criscito has played 100 matches in Serie A altogether and scored 5 goals.

Domenico has been playing for the Italian national team since August, 2009. He`s played 15 matches for the national team, including 3 at the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.

Criscito plays as a defender, usually on the left flank. He`s excellent at stealing the ball (he was one of the best in the Italian league last year in this category), and is able to make excellent passes to his opponents at the right time to start the attack.

Zenit welcomes Domenico to St. Petersburg, and hopes he will have his most important victories as a Zenit player.

:lmao: at the 'stress on the first syllable' comment, sounds awfully strange.
