      Dirk Kuyt's hat-trick
      Mar 06, 2011 11:03:56 pm
Dirk Kuyt's hat-trick today was total of 7 yds.

That has to be a Liverpool record ? Anyone else score a hat-trick of tap ins for us ?

Fairly sure Jan Molby scored a hat trick of pens once, if you want to count that, but I can't really think of anything else off the top of my head, but I'm delighted for Dirk and they all count!

It might be but I'm not so sure it was 7 yards for all goals. I'm pretty sure his second was almost on the edge of the six yard box.

      Might be wrong though.

They are the hat tricks you remember to be fair! Doesn't matter how far out you are as long as you put it in the back of the net THAT is the most important thing and Dirk was in the right place at the right time so many times today. Thank you Dirk you legend!

Yeah but you also asked about a hat trick of tap ins and that was the closest I could think of!

But as has been said before MOTD estimated it at 7 yards, and I really couldn't think of another hat trick like that!

Does it matter how long a distance hat trick he got? A hat trick is a hat trick. 3 tap ins are the same as 3 wonder goals.

It's not about how he scored them. It's about him being at the right place at the right time - a true trait of a poacher. Have to give him the credit for that ;)

Notice how he was the one who headed the ball towards Skrtel/Suarez and fell, he got up and quickly ran into the 6 yard box.

Easily could have left the ball for the second because Carrick's mistimed jump could have caught him off but he manages to adjust to nod it in!

For his 3rd, well, he's done that too many times!

That's Dirk's specialty(besides his workrate and endurance), his positioning and finishing, being at the right place at the right time to knock the ball in. Obviously he's better played as a striker than a winger. He isn't fast, and he isn't a dribbler.

It doesn't matter how many yards, it's the occasion that matters. Do I wish he could've shepherded in the first one so Suarez could lay claim to one of the greatest solo runs and goal I've ever seen? - yes, but ponder the following fact.

Dirk Kuyt's hattrick is the first ever Liverpool hattrick against United in the premier league era and the only second overall by any team. The first being David Bentley when playing for Blackburn

Keep him up front now.All of a sudden instead of a sulky spaniard we have 3 strikers and Ngog(sorry David).Lineker made his name by scoring goals like that right place right time its a skill in itself.
Hope he plays up front on Thursday but maybe Carrol will start on his own up front.

Saying that though if i had the ball rolling on the line against the mancs then id have F***ing ran up and blasted it in the net myself so can't really blame the lad ;D.

I think Carrol will be introduced gradually maybe get half an hour this game and a bit more next and so on Kenny is cautious with players coming back from injury. Its one of the advantages of having an ex player as a manager.

Hello to all my Red brothers/sisters.My first post on this forum that I have been following for the last 6 months.Could not believe Dirk's amazing hattrick on Sunday...who cares how close/how far he was from the goal line!I've run the poor bugger down the whole season and he replies with 3 against the mancs;brilliant!Anyway, how's this for a go...to the tune of Tears for Fears "Shout".
            Dirk        Kuyt
           Without a doubt
He'll tuck it in,he knows the route
              To your goal
Like a fox in the box
                Beware!
             Dirk        Kuyt
            We cannot be without
He sank the mancs on his own made us shout
               Our song
      You'll Never Walk Alone
                Walk On
I'm defo not John Lennon, and some may not like "our song"in a TfF style, but I thought it had potential.Huyton Red,the "Ain't seen nothing like the Mighty Kuyt" was sung a million times on Sunday.

Spot on, he had the desire to go for every one of them, how many times in recent years have we screamed at players to take a chance and poach. Well done Kuyt, with suarez (euopa cuptied) and Carroll not quite fit, perhaps he can show people he has more to his game (AGAIN)!

I love the way that all the Mancs can come back with is "it was a bunch of tap-ins" They have a short memory...I seem to recall a certain Dutch lad playing for them who was somewhat of an expert of scoring goals in the 6 yard box? So its very Ruud of them to criticise Dirk!  ;) I'm here all week!

Ah, man, that 3rd goal of gods, when he chipped it up with his left and knocked it in with his right was a bit special - if that was bergkamp, the papers would have been all over it and him.

Suarez is more of a Dalglish than a Rush - hopefully, Carroll can pop a few in, cos Suarez will make chances for people, he's a proper desi thingy.

Forgotten how to spell it, but he's the kind of player I was thinking of - quick, smart, tricky, agile, intelligent, able, and guilefull.

Guile is very important to him, but he'd best learn a couple of new tricks, cos EPL defenders don't often fall for the same trick twice...

Apart from our new boys, I tink Kuyt has done pretty well - he scored a hat trick against manu for 7 yards total. Who cares. Not me. He did it and that's good enough for me.

Cut the guy some slack - he does it for us and for Holland.
