I'd read comments on facebook of people saying things like 'this has made me scared that we are turning into Hicks and Gillett' and that it could be an 'epic swindle'.
I highly doubt this. Hicks and Gillett never put the effort into something like this, or showed half the effort that NESV have already showed in their short time in charge. There can't be too much to lose from this deal, and it will surely expose us to an even greater market, mainly in the U.S and in Asia. I don't think too much can go wrong, but a lot can go right. It's all about bringing the club back to the legendary status of the 80s, when we were winning everything.
As big as we still are, naturally, the glory hunters as most call them, but the fans who in my opinion don't invest the time to look into the clubs they support, and really follow them as most of us do, will flock to the teams who are winning the most. These owners seem to understand that, and seem to want to bring the club to these new heights. They've said time and time again that winning on the pitch is directly related to winning off of it, and this deal with LeBron will hopefully lead us, even if only slightly, in the right direction.
Think of the reaction if/when LeBron turns up to Anfield wearing the Liverpool jersey. It is the same for Caroline Wozniacki. Exposing our name to other forms of media, and to fans of other sports will undoubtedly increase the club as a brand. The bigger the club as a brand, the more money runs through us, which will hopefully end up meaning more money to spend on transfers, and the development of young players.
