7000 LFC League Goals

Just been reading that we are nearing our 7000th league goal  (we are on 6998).

Will we get it on Sunday. I think it would be fitting if Gerrard landed it as there are some real legends on the list (and David Thompson)

Here's the list of the important 'goalscoring' milestones. Intriguing that the scorelines for the 6000 and 6500 were both 7-1. That would do me tomorrow.


Liverpools first league goal:
Malcolm McVean against Middlesbrough Ironopolis (away). 2. September, 1893. Liverpool won 2-0.

Liverpools 500. league goal:
Charlie Satterthwaite against Wolverhampton (home). 9. November 1901. Liverpool won 4-1.

Liverpools 1000. league goal:
Ronald Orr mot Sunderland (home). 12. April 1909. Liverpool won 3-0.

Liverpools 1500. league goal:
Danny Shone against Middlesbrough (home). 19. November 1921. Liverpool won 4-0.
 
Liverpools 2000. league goal:
Gordon Hodgson against Bury (away). 29. December 1928. It ended in a draw 2-2.

Liverpools 2500. league goal:
Vic Wright against Stoke City (home). 19. April 1935. Liverpool won 5-0.

Willie Fagan against Everton (home). 24. December 1949. Liverpool won 3-1.

Billy Liddell against Fulham (away). 2. March 1957. Liverpool won 2-1.

Roger Hunt against Sheffield Wednesday (away) 8. December 1962. Liverpool won 2-0.

Sammy Chapman own goal against Nottingham Forest (home). 4. October 1969. Draw 1-1.

Have to admit though I think Torres will get the big 7000, ooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrr maybe Kuyt, but it would be justifeid  that Mr G get it....... Really

Imagine how much all of the players will be gunning to get that goal against Sunderland? It'll be funny to see how their passing goes!  Might not be as generous in front of goal!
