I just don't think he's an upgrade of enough quality to justify the money being spent and the wages that will probably be a lot higher than Jones' (judging by both players profiles). Doni is so terribly inconsistent, if he comes in for Pepe I wouldn't have any confidence on him at all

Personally I think we should go for Rafael Santos from Corinthians, he's on loan at the moment but I'd prefer us to get a awesome young keeper that would relish being an understudy to Pepe.

He'll come for free as confirmed by his agent, but wages are the real problem here. If he's paid 50k a week and doesn't play any game at all like Jones and Cavalieri in the past seasons, it's a problem. Anyway hope Gulacsi will benefit the most from this.

Alexander Doni set to complete Liverpool move

Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni's transfer to Liverpool will be completed tomorrow, according to the player's agent.

The two clubs reached an agreement last month for Doni to join the Reds on a free transfer, with the 31-year-old expected to sign a two-year contract.

"Everything is okay with Liverpool," Doni's agent Ovidio Colucci told asromanews.it. "We are returning to Rome to sign the final documents.

"The deal will be finally completed tomorrow and Doni will be back at Liverpool on Sunday to be available for [Liverpool manager Kenny] Dalglish."

Liverpool today confirmed they have completed the signing of Alexander Doni from AS Roma.

The goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a contract with the Reds after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Doni, who has 10 caps for his country, made 179 appearances for Roma in six seasons in Italy during which time he lifted the Coppa Italia twice as well as the Supercoppa Italiana.

The 31-year-old custodian also helped Brazil to success in the 2007 Copa America.
