You're forgetting two things.

1.  At Sunderland he often played right midfield, they even said it was his best position.

2.  And last season he was played several times centrally.  He was still awful.

Oh, and can someone please let Joe Allen know that he should be playing sh*te right now?  he's young, just moved to a big club for a big fee, he's supposed to be quaking in his boots apparently.  He's not allowed to be as good as we hoped he would be, bossing midfield, etc.  No.  When you move to a big club for a big fee and you're young, you must be sh*te like Henderson.

Henderson played nearly a whole season on the right wing for Sunderland. Steve Bruce, his former manager, said it was his best position.

Kenny then signs him and play him on the right all season.

He was bought to play on the right side of midfield, he wasn't out of position.

And yet when he plays his best as witnessed in the England Under 21's it is in the middle - he was also playing in the middle when he first got recognised and called up for England.

He is not a right mid or a winger and everyone can pretty much see that.

Not every single play settles at the same time - Allen arrived surrounded by a lot of familiar sights - manager - coaches - system, I'm pretty sure you're smart enough to understand the differences.

And when Henderson did play in the middle ( rare times ) like against Bolton he actually played well.

Distinctly average is how I would describe Jordan Henderson in a Sunderland shirt.  And there has been no progression whatsoever in a Liverpool shirt.  Some may argue there's been regression actually.

In fact, I fail to name any attributes he brings to the team.  Other than very nice hair and a healthy disposition.
 

This entire thread is jam packed with excuses being made for Henderson and early on I was guilty of it. Well that time has well and truly passed now, he's played over 100 games in the premier league and the signs of any improvement seem as far away tonight as they ever have. I don't want to waste time trying to coax something, that probably isn't there anyway, out of the lad when he doesn't know how to get it out of himself.

People attempting to compare him to Lucas should simply read Diego's comments, Lucas is the exception and Jordan gives absolutely no signs of being any different from the player who played his first game for us. No progression, no improvement, I've personally not got the patience and would rather take a chance with someone else.

Ronaldo was still better than Henderson despite being 4 years younger at the time as well. At 22, he was one of the best in Europe already.

And when he plays his best, it's still not even above average. What he offered in the times he played there is nothing any midtable EPL midfielder couldn't provide. I can see he's not a winger, I'm just not convinced he's a central midfielder either - not a very good one, for sure. It's also worth mentioning that even when he played on the right side, he came inside a lot. Right midfield was a position he knew very well, despite the efforts of making it sound like if it was another planet to him, and he did have opportunities in the middle too.

As for the Bolton game, if you mean the one he and Adam scored, he played on the right that day. Probably his best game for us last season IMO.

Fulham valued Dempsey at around £9m.

We were willing to pay them about £4m + Henderson.

That means we value Henderson at about £5m.

If he is just so great, and has such a bright future, then why, oh why, when everyone and their mother knew that Rodgers didn't want him, and he was available for the "value" price of £5m, why, pray tell, were there not a thousand clubs banging on our door to take him?

His first cap was playing in CM - he filled in at right mid just like he did for us but he is a centre mid - simple as that
