Hendo still a top player and a top top captain. The whole team is suffering just now, not just a few players.
As soon as he replaced Keita we capitulated, he’s been atrocious all season and he is only going to decline because what he lacked in technical ability he made up with his running power, those days are long behind him now.
Absolutely outstanding tonight in the Captains role,.He's the man who holds the midfield together, the glue that keeps us tight when needed, he really put in a shift tonight, superb Jordan.
Seeing as though the club were daft enough to give him a 4 year extended contract, (read that and weep) he should take up the Milner role next season, playing short cameo’s.
He's a big dilemma going into next season.I never minded the contract he got at the time as I felt as a leader of this team and a footballer he'd earned it.Now though it looks like it could very well come back to bite us.
He will take up the bit part role within the club
Oh I get that mate but on huge wages. But will he be happy with that? Not exactly at the end of the road age wise.In hindsight would it have been better to let his contract run out??
Hendo as a squad player is completely fine. He'll be 33 at the start of next season and should be able to be a valuable squad player for the remainder of his contract. I have to imagine Hendo has enough self awareness to realize he cannot carry the load of a starting role anymore.
I'm not as convinced as you how fine he would be about that. And having a player dip in and out of the starting 11 on that huge contract isn't exactly the best use of resources.
Agree it's not the best use of resources (forget how much he's on and how it compares to someone like Milner, for example), but all along Hendo has come across as selfless and part of his role as a leader is to do what is best for the team, even if it means he takes on a diminished role.
Is this the same Henderson who got his agent to brief journalists that he was off if he didn’t get his contract demands 😁
