Oh dear, Pickford spills it and Argentina take the lead.  Why on earth Belford hasn't been given a chance yet I don't know ???

Bloody harsh yellow for Sterling then, looked like he got the ball.  Terrible conditions out there.  Not seen too much of Raheem so far, but Smith is having a decent game.
Yes!!!  Raheem levels it!  Cuts in from the wing and tucks it into the right hand corner.

Half time 1-1.  The weather there is awful, definitely not helping things.  Would like to see Morgan come on for Hope who's not done a lot apart from hit the woodwork really early on.

If England go through, the next opponents are the winner of the Germany - USA match, in which Germany are thumping the US 3-0 so far.

Adam Morgan on for Sterling in the 81st minute.  Raheem never really got in to this one, looked off the pace.  Don't know if he's carrying an injury or if the booking affected him or it just wasn't his day.  Morgan looking lively, unlucky then.

      Ooh, unlucky Adam lad!

Red card for Pinto, should have gone earlier for a deliberate hand ball.

Not long left, straight to penos if no-one scores.  2 minutes added on.
Great play by Morgan, cuts it back and it's a scuffed shot from Clayton.  Penalties!

      Gone to penalties.

Sterling played well in periods and scored a good goal. Morgan has been so bright since he came on. He showed more out of position on the left wing in his first few touches than Hope did in his favoured position up front.

Morgan should have been introduced a lot earlier imo.  He offers a different threat to Hope, and Hope offered very little in the entire match.

      Magri scores 1-0

      Argentina level it.

      ones-eys.

Morgan up now.  Mon Adam.  YES!  2-1.

      2-2.

      Phew!  That was a nailbiter.

Well done to Smith who had a solid game, Sterling who scored England's lone goal, Morgan who put his penalty away and looked well up for it, and to Pickford for his 2 penalty saves.  Credit where it's due I guess, would still like to see our Belford given a game but that's probably unlikely now.

Only got home in time for the shoot out, but the first stop by the England keeper was a save and a half.

It was. Big, strong hand. Could have easily slipped beyond him considering the poor weather conditions. Made up for his mistake for the Argentina goal.

The next game against Germany is going to be tough. They are scoring for fun. They beat USA 4-0 tonight.

Agreed about that, they looked sh*t hot against the yanks.

      Some bad celebrations though!

And must say Adam Morgan's penalty in the shoot out was a class finish.

The quarter final between England and Germany is on Eurosport tonight at 8:50pm. The likes of Sterling, Regan, Morgan, Smith and Belford could be involved.

Hope Morgan starts tonight. He showed some great stuff when he came on against Argentina the other night. Going to be a very tough test against a free scoring Germany.
