This is a difficult one now. It is looking like Doni at the moment which is hardly exciting. The whole squad returns to pre season on Monday which will include the guys that went out on loan. So we should have players like Aqualani, Insua, Degan and a few youngsters that went out. Kenny may be saying that he has to take a look at the whole of our squad before he makes any signings for key positions or who will be shown the door, which is fair enough, he may well feel that Insua could make it and there would be no need to go into the market for a left back, this maybe the reason why our transfer dealings have stalled at the moment.
There could also be the reason that maybe FSG are not backing us financially as much as we hoped. JH has already said that we will not be held to ransum on transfer prices. We,ve already missed out on a couple because we have refused to pay clubs asking price. The Conner Wickham transfer was a strange one for me. Its said he wanted to come to us,how true that is i dont know, and he met all the criterior that FSG have always banged on about, potencial, young and a good sell on value, yet we still did,nt stump up the cash. FSG have been very wise so far. They made a massive statment when they wasted 35 million on Carroll and the brillient signing of Suarez with money that they recieved from player sales. To date we have signed Henderson for 16 million which again is money we probably recieved from our new investments in sponsorship but when its time to put thier hands in thier pockets they seem a little shy to me. Maybe its just my bad thinking but untill they make a marquee signing with money from thier pockets, not from sales or investments, thats when i,ll say yes they are backing us. For now though they seem like they have short arms and deep pockets.
