Starting Choice Eleven Dilemma

Just been having a discussion at work regarding our 'starting 11' this season and the fact that over the past 4-5 seasons our starting 11 has pretty much picked itself.We now have the dilemna of actually having to think about who is going to be playing in which position which is giving me a right headache.....but I LOVE IT  

For me, our strongest first 11 once everybody is fit is:

                              Reina

Johnson        Carragher    Agger        Enrique 

                   Meireles     Aquilani

        Suarez           Gerrard        Downing
                         
                            Carroll


Leaving a very healthy and strong bench with the likes of kuyt, lucas, adam, henderson, skrtel, aurelio  on it.

That side ^ is one that would walk the league IMO. Raul is more than capable of playing the 'holding role' and stevie and aqua can swop round if needed.

For me, our strongest first 11 once everybody is fit is:

Spot on there Racer. Lucas as the more defensive of the two and Adam as more of a box to box midfielder.

Just look at the bench! Since when has it been so strong!?

With so many midfielders now I think our formation will be tweaked from game to game depending on the oppositions strengths and weaknesses. Much like when we beat Chelsea 1-0 and tactically outsmarted them. Have the ability to smother teams in midfield then with pace of Suarez/Downing and the size of Carroll hit them hard on the counter.

With the strength we have in midfield, there should be less chance of player burn out. I think we will see a lot of midfield substitutions being made this season, especially if we are winning well.

Hi there mate, but I don't think Raul can do the job of actually tackling anyone. It was a sore point last season about him shirking away from tackles - I remember some attributed that to the reason why Gerrard lunged during the United FA cup game - to show Raul how's it done (not exactly effective especially since it earned Gerrard a red card!).

I would swap Lucas with Raul - and the rest of the team lineup is exactly as you have it!

I look around and all I can see is KWALITY and oh how that pleases me!

What is really good to see is that if you dont perform someone will be ready to take your place.
I am surprised very few people have picked Kuyt. Kenny likes hardworking players and i think Kuyt will get a place either on the right or up front.Its great to have some debate because we at long last have a decent squad with competition for places.Just a good CB now please.

Love lucas to bits but Raul is more than capable of playing the holding role from watching him previously in his career and at international level. Hes a better footballer than lucas for that reason id have him in the side.

He sh*t out of one tackle, which i couldnt understand why myself because that little rafael and the other one fabio too are just gobshites, raul should have gone straight through him and took him out completely, but because of that one moment all of a sudden everybody says he cant tackle or defend - its bollocks.

That would just be my side anyway, thats what i think our strongest 11 is.

I believe kenny will go with adam and lucas in the middle though with stevie playing off carroll. When stevies not fit then aquilani will be in the side.

I'd go with this except for the time-being, I'd expect Carra to be ahead of Skrtel. I'd possibly swap Suarez and Gerrard too but I don't suppose it makes much difference with the fluid way we play anyway.

It's about time we had a depth of quality, and players knowing they need to be one top form to play is only a good thing for LFC.

Reminds me of that interview from Riise, where he said he floated along for a bit, knowing his place wasn't under threat.

Having Downing and Suarez swap sides throughout the game according to how much luck there getting down the specific flank in the game, also have Lucas as the soul DM so it gives Aquilani and Adam license to attack and defend together, and as both aren't great defenders then what better way too have the monster that is Lucas to be behind them to pick up the pieces, because in an attacking sense Aquilani and Adam would be lethal together.
