Jose Enrique (Contract Expired)

I think hes not a bad player but he has the concentration span of a goldfish. One minute he will do something "world class" by blocking the ball well then turning a player and beating a man for pace. Then the next minute he will watch a very tricky attacker (Hernandez) stroll past him and score. He's simlar to Martin Skrtel in the fact that they are both physicaly beasts who can block well but ask them to do anything remotely ball playing wise and they freeze.

Apart from that of course, na seriously he is hot and cold sometimes he has a fanatastic game against the scum but then he does daft moments where he switches off. he still needs to improve on his crossing

I disagree mate. Enrique as he also did against the mancs at O.T. with Hernandez, was marking Gayle who was stood behind the goal line. When Gayle ran forward Enrique halfheartedly followed him... then gave up, leaving Gayle unmarked. See 7mins 45 secs in video.

Enrique could well have passed him on to Gerrard because you can see that before the kick is even taken, Gerrard turns his head and he can see Gayle is there. Mignolet should have bollocked Enrique for letting Gayle go, so I'm not sure Enrique was meant to be specifically marking him, more meant to be there to mop up.

Sorry but IMO Gerrard is much more at fault for that goal, he saw Gayle come through un-marked and he made a piss poor attempt of getting his head on the ball.

Could raise the question, whats best for our team at the moment given the fact we look frail defending set pieces, Zonal or Man Marking?

Either way, whoever is at fault for the goal and although we may not agree with who's more at fault or whatever but I'm sure we will all agree on the fact that we shouldn't be conceding goals like that full stop!

I couldn't care less if his eyes were replaced by snooker balls, his legs and arms chopped off - the guy would still be a better option than what we've had to suffer under Cissokho!

I would not be surprised in the slightest to see Cissokho pass him very soon.

I've always liked Enrique and his first 4 months at the club he was probably the best LB in the Premiership. Sadly, he did then lose it for a while, and those dips in form and concentration have coloured some opinions.
 
On his game, he's very good indeed. Certainly miles better than Cissokho. But then we all knew that already.

Gutted for Enrique, just when we had decent competition at LB too  . Fingers crossed for him, he'll be missed.

Just heard that he has been ruled out with a long term knee injury. This could be really bad news for us, we are really short of cover at LB and I'm not looking forward to us relying on Cissokho.

Where did you 'hear' it?  Not the post above yours was it? 

Gutted for Enrique, I think since that poor spell he had last season he's been developing into a really solid LB for us, maybe he lacks the class and attacking prowess Fabio had but I think he makes up for it in other areas.  I think he's really underrated for us.

Has to be sakho. We need to get a versatile wing back in jan like arbeloa. In a way it would ensure more centre backs get game time as our cover at left back is appalling but bad news nonetheless
