So many to mention, Huyton Red just pointed out a lot, special mention to...

Antonio Nunez, currently playing in cyprus.

Couple of frankly laughable signings in the Houlier era, of course there were some fantastic signings too.

Djimi Traore, Bruno Cheyrou, Josemi. Konchesky and Poulsen are definite candidates. Had to laugh at Vladimir Smicer on occasions despite being a good servant to the club. Some of Rafa's worst, Voronin, Dossena for seven million pounds, Morientes, Degen, Mark Gonzales, Jovanovic also been so disappointing.

Think signing Aquilani was a bad idea despite thinking highly of him, he's been treated extremely badly but will probably go down as a flop unfortunately.

Gonzales, Morientes, Smicer all had talent, espeically Morientes, he was just past his best.

Morientes especially was a very talented player, prolific in Spain, nevertheless he was a part of a group of players that struggled to fill our void upfront until we signed Torres.

Traore and Smicer are CL winners!

Don't blame it on Biscan, don't blame it on Hamann, don't blame it on Finnan, blame it on Traore... he just can't, he just can't, he just can't control his feet. ;D

Smicer was alright though, always liked him.

I couldn't believe it when I heard that Keane had been signed. Disbelief.

For me the worse signings for L.F.C. has to be Hicks and Gillett, they did far more damage to the club than any player ever did.

      Well said Billy.

The player that came to my mind straight away was El Hadji Diouf.

10 million in 2002 and he only spits.

Does anyone remember Jean Michel Ferri? I still remember the day he signed - headlines read, "the Ferri has docked" - truly cringeworth stuff! but hilarious!

Don't actually remember him playing a full game and cost us a million and a half!

I do remember the fella indeed and I believe he played a few games too.  Reading between the lines I think he was brought in as a stop gap DM as Houllier didn't get on very well with Paul Ince.

If I remember rightly he was so bad that the players thought the only reason Houllier could have bought him was to spy on them :)

He was brought in as a spy, found out Ince was the mole who was running to the papers, which led to Ince training with the kids before he was fu**ed off to Boro.

Worst Player - El Hadj Diouf

Pound for Pound - Alberto Aquilani

I'm surpised corballyred hasn't been in here to name Andy Carroll as he hasn't scored 50 goals in ten games yet.

Even though he was probably a free transfer, I think Mauricio Pellegrino was probably one of the worst

Istvan Kozma, 6 games, cost 300,000 in 1992.  Remember seeing him play - he was not very good..........

      Alberto Aquilani all day long.
We have made some truly shocking buys over the years no doubt.
El Hadj Diouf was sh*te & a complete c**t to boot.
Degen,Cheyrou,Poulson,Konchesky,El Zhar,Gonzalez,Babel,f***in Voronin the list is almost endless.

But none come close to Alberto when it come's to Pound for Pound waste of money.

Istvan Kozma a bad signing !, what about the night he inspired the comeback against Chesterfield in the League cup, 3 nil down to draw 4-4. In all seriousness if was a typical Souness buy, just because he had a good game for Dunfermline against Rangers.

Toss up between Joe Cole and Christian Poulsen.  Seeing as they both cost £5M - whichever of them is on the most wages and we can't get rid of this summer.

Koncheskey and Poulson cost a combined £8m or thereabouts, we've recouped 1.5 for conehead and I seriously doubt we'll recoup anything for Poulson so pound for pound they are right up there.

Diouf should get this award though, possibly the most horrible c*nt to ever play for the club imo. And he was awful.
