All managers get it wrong from time to time, same as all managers get it right a few times if you give them long enough. Pound for pound though, who have been the worst? Naturally Kenny has had his Jimmy Cater moments in the last, same as Houllier had his Bruno Cheyrous and Rafa had his Kromkamps, but those players were relatively cheap for their time. Could it be that some of our most recent signings might end up making the liost? How much would Carroll have to improve for instance to be worth 35 million quid? So anyway that's the question. Give us some names of the worst signings in the clubs history.
^ good call if we are only talking signing fee, not including the money recouped selling them on. But thank God for Harry, he only cost us about £5m net.
If we talking fee appearances and sell on value, step up the cross eyed pauper.
Why what have we sold him for?
He was an awful player, no doubt about it. Wasn't he about a half a million quid at the time though, a fraction of the big money signings of the day.
IMOA) Being a c**tB) Waste of £10m
Kromkamp? Perhaps but Rafa made much worse signings. Jan was lucky in that he came at a time when the team were playing brilliantly. Great domestic form in the league and the cup softened that failed buy. I'd put Kyriagkos and N'Gog as worse signings because I really do feel that when we went off form, turning to them did no help at all in morale. Those guys have well overstayed their welcome at this club, whereas Kromkamp had come and gone within 8 months. The worst signing I've ever known? El Hadj Diouf.
In Kyriagkos defence he cost feck all only about 2-3million I think. At that time the club had nothing to spend and IMO he was worth every penny
