Who knows mate, my knowledge is limited from here.

I just know java drive-byes are lethal, and could end up with you having to reinstall Windows.

Try keeping away from the porn sites mate. Can't honestly see that they could have anything to do with your problems on this site. The chances that you would pick up a malicious trojan on some "site" that just happened to be connected to someone on here is minimal. The only way (imo) would be if you accepted an E-mail with an attachment from someone on here. Possibly if you followed a link from someone on here to an infected site they had set up I suppose, but then presumably most on here would be infected too.

More chance that someone spoofed your IP I think.

Its got me perplexed Res, if your knowledge is limited then mine must be non existant, I'm at a loss, I'm going to re-run spyware doctor and make sure these have been removed.

There appears to be many variations of Java Drive-bys, up to now this one is by far the most interesting:

      Believe me. It's impossible.

The ONLY way he can use your IP is by hijacking your computer.

That is that. There is NO other way, I promise you that much.

Don't rate that Spyware Daz, used it a while ago and it didn't do anything to stop a bad arse virus from F***ing my PC right up.

Would this not make it possible?

"Our easy-to-use software lets you change your IP address anytime by routing your Internet traffic through private and secure servers worldwide. A small dropdown box will appear on your web browser toolbar (Internet Explorer or Firefox) with a list of several countries. Select one and your IP address will change so that you appear to be located in that country. You can quickly jump back and forth between IP's around the world!"

Sounds the opposite to me.  :-\

      This bit:

      Quote
It would be possible if you are using a proxy service to connect to the internet, whether it be a web proxy or your ISPs proxy - some ISPs still use proxies, I believe AOL did, but I'm not sure if they still do. Even then, the person would need to be using the same exact proxy to connect.

Another way would be if you were hosting a web proxy available to anyone on the internet. However, if you have your own IP Address and are just using the internet normally, and not hosting anything publicly, then you should be fine, as it would not be possible for them to get into your network unless they were using your router to connect.

Suggests to me you'd need to be either in the same work place or public place, or using the same router.

Would this not make it possible?

And that just sounds like how to appear to be from another country, nothing about using the exact same IP as another person.

      All very odd.

Blind leading the blind with only Reslivo the all seeing king to guide us. :)

Easier to get a decent firewall, decent anti-virus, secure your router and move on RLB

And not getting banned again would help :D

Well I'm at a loss, all I can say is I wasn't devil hunter so, with the forum reciving my ip address as devil hunter on one occassion, the forum has 1 been subject to a spoof attack or 2 I've been hacked ?

Not so easy to move on though mate, I'm not even sure if I've been compromised or teh forum and if I have been compromised am I still vulnerable ?

One more question, now that who ever Devil Hunter was obviously has my IP address, would it be wise to contact my network provider and ask them to change my ISP ?

Res or JD if done this and sent you screen shots via PM, would you be able to tell if I have been hacked ?

How can you can tell if your computer has been hacked

Closed all my windows and done this and I have 5 established connections, what does that mean ?
