In answer to some of the posts on this thread.
1/ I certainly remember the alphabet that was used for the halftime scores, they were in the good old days when all the matches kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday, prior to floodlights in the middle of winter the match used to start earlier than 3pm.
2/ I remember the Dandy and the Beano used to come out on alternative weeks just after the 2nd world war, this was because of a paper shortage due to the war.In those days if you wanted to buy a comic you had to get to the newsagents pretty early in the morning or they would be all sold out.
3/I seem to recall that it used to cost a tanner to get in the boys pen when it was in Kemlyn Road,I think it went up to 9old pennies when they moved the pen to the back of the kop.\
4/ Does any body remember the milkman used to deliver the milk from a cart that the poor bugger had to pull behind him.The CO-OP and Hansons used to have little depots throughout the city and the suburbs.
5/I well remember when the government took sweets off the ration,I think it was about 1952,when it happened the price of sweets suddenly went up.
6/ A question for the Page Moss and Huyton lads, What was Princess Drive originally called and why was the name changed.-Sorry no prizes for the correct answer.
I had better stop now or I might get charged with hogging the thread.
