      Don't be intimidated Richobaz!

      Stick to your guns.

After all what have you got to lose.  If we don't make it you can say you were just supporting the team.  If you are right think of the bragging rights it gives you.

Who dares wins! (or ends up really in the sh*t) ???

Cheers Oldred - defo sticking to my guns - I'm confident that everyone agrees with me.

Go on, buy the champers - time to celebrate!

      Insua and who else?

momo alonso hyypia and arbeloa aren't reserves

I think Hyypia is. Occassionally he'll get a game because of his heading ability, but apart from that he'll only play when filling in for Agger or Carra.

That team should probably have beaten Portsmouth.
When you look at the team we put out last season it's hardly any surprise we lost really:

      Jerzy Dudek
      Emiliano Insua
      Sami Hyypia (c)
      Gabriel Paletta
      Alvaro Arbeloa
      Boudewijn Zenden
      Xabi Alonso
      Momo Sissoko
      Mark Gonzalez
      Craig Bellamy
      Robbie Fowler

      Doesn't that team look **** !

Just highlights what we now have.  Us fans deserve some credit - we've been through sh*t, to get to where we are now.

I don't think you can say that we'll win the league if we beat Pompey, they are the sort of teams we need to be beating if we want to win the league, but it's a long season, if we can produce excellent performances against the Pompeys, Newcastles and Boltons, then I think we could win the league.

But as EddieC said we need to be picking up points against the rest of the big four, because for the same reasons as he gave, if we dont pick up any points against them then we won't win the league.
In recent years we must have picked up the fewest points in those games out of the rest of the big 4, an I know people are going to be saying 'well we would have beaten Chelsea if it hadn't been for a dodgy ref' an it's true we would have won if it weren't for that error but those things happen in football an if we were good enough then we would have put the game to bed before that penalty. So when we beat at least one of the big four, home AND away then I would probably say ' well yes we have a great chance of winning the title this year'

In 2003 I think it was we were top of the league at Christmas then we fell away and finished 5th, so for all the comments about the title coming back to Anfield is a bit premature for me.

      boro                0-0
POINTS    (two out of twenty one)     (nineteen out of twenty one)

don't agree it was our away form that ruined things for us last season

so i would say it was our away form that our downfall last season

scraping the three points in most games.

three points are three points and thats what counts ask the other top clubs would they be happy 'scrapping'  three points to help win the title .dont get me wrong i like watching exciting football too but if you offer me a good performance and a point or a scrappy three points win i will take the points    thank you.

Don't really understand what point you are trying to make their, but in my opnion it was the 2/3 games in a row that we lost away that killed our chances last season.  But we did manage to claw a lot back towards the end just not enough.

The key this season is to keep up the good away form and if we do slip points keep close to the top as possible.  The fact that United have had a sh*t start should give us a slight advantage but look at where teams like Man City are compared to this time last season.

We need more rests like Sunday games, but it helps if we do vs easy teams in the congested areas
