      Nicolas Anelka
      Dec 03, 2011 05:53:55 pm
Anelka has put in a transfer request request today (3/12/11) just in time for the Winter transfer window.
Would you have him back at Anfield?

Don't think so. On the wane I feel and I don't think he should ever have left for Chelsea nearly 4 years ago now. Had a very good career though. Never really disappointed. Always that feeling he had unfinished business at Liverpool but for a complete horror decision by Houllier a decision so bad that I think it contributed to Liverpool's decline under the Frenchman.

Out of curiosity, I thought the "winter transfer board" was about players linked to Liverpool. I know he's handed in a transfer request but he's not been linked to us.

Anyway, I think he could be a player who could offer us something. He has pace, can find a goal, and can play on the right, or up front so he's versatile.

I would bring him in, but I wouldn't sign him, too much of a risk and he's declining. But I wouldn't mind bringing him on loan till the end of the season, could be a key player who could get us a few goals and a different approach to our game.

I wouldn't sign him, his wages and signing on fee would be way too dear for me but I'd definately bring him on loan, if it's a viable alternative.

He's 32 now so he is getting on in footballing terms.

Massive mistake to not sign him when we had the chance a few years ago, he's currently declining to rapidly but I do believe that he could offer us something if we could get him on loan.

Very true....but I think in our current situation, we have enough in the present squad and upcoming youngsters to not need him and I'm still confident that Carroll will come good, given time.

Always been a class player and still is. I wanted him to be included in the Torres deal last year. That made far more sense to me than shelling the huge fee on Carroll and my opinion hasn't changed with hindsight. Still a quality player for me but if the club went for him they would essentially be saying "Andy you're not good enough" so I don't think it will happen. As for the age factor, isn't Bellamy the same age? That wouldn't bother me a bit.

He should have been signed by Houllier but now he is past his best and I'm not sure leaving Chelsea's bench for ours is what he is after.

Probably off to Middle East or the US.

No, definitely no from me. Would of liked him to stay back when we had him on loan but his career is too close to over and his level of performance is well on it's way down. Simple decision this one.

I don't think it's a goer either but everyone a bit too quick to write the guy off I think. He played well last year but AVB doesn't seem to like him so he doesn't play much now. I'm sure he's got a bit more in his locker.

He probably has mate but he's heading to the wrong side of 30 along with Doni, Kuyt, Bellamy, Gerrrard, Carragher and Maxi, who we already have in our squad, I wouldn't sign him as the knock on effects of letting the average age of the squad rise unchecked can be seen clearly at Chelsea.

He will always score goals - and if god forbid anything happens to Suarez he is good backup... But why would he want to go from one bench to another? If he comes here and kicks off, which he very well could then no thank's..

We should have kept him years ago - but alas... For me its 50 / 50 - either way I would be happy. If Kenny thinks he can do a job for us then give him a go...

I'd have him here for the rest of the season and take it from there. Anelka is the same age as Bellamy and look how good he's been for us this season. If Kenny could do the same for him then we could have that extra spark upfront to push on for a top four finish.

I think he is too old to buy, maybe only free and I'd be still doubtful about his coming. Yes, he has lots of qualities but do we really need him? I think no because we have Bellers who is much better than him and also I think that he's looking for money now, not for real football, Anzhi is club for him.

Could it to be anything to do with the fact they are French, or the small matter their owners are loaded!

Past his best yeah but many players who are past their best can do a good job either as part of a squad or coming off 'the bench' but... it could well be he'd like to spend his final days in his home country.

Personally he's not for me but... if he were free - who knows.    >:D

I think he could be useful in the squad but he's past his best and would probably demand very high wages, so it would depend on what kind of a deal we'd make.

but not now, we should be aiming at bringing youth to the club. anelka would be a band aid, not a solution.

No for me. We're building a team and we don't need players that'll play a year or two and move on and the team buiiding period stretches. Anyway, I'm sceptical of players coming out of Chelsea nowadays, they could have passed their prime and we don't need to look too far too remind ourselves, eventhough they comes free. Besides that, Anelka has won trophies with Chelsea and does he still posseses the fire in his belly to do well for us, or that he just sees out the remaining useful playing time in his career. I'd say, don't look back but look forward for other younger options.

What we need is someone who can put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis, our goals for this season is piss poor.
