http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liverpool_0%E2%80%932_Arsenal_%2826_May_1989%29The Arse can be spoilers.
I had just moved in to an old farm Spring Bank Holiday 1989 and I was looking forward to us getting our second double.
The Arse were up against it.
The odds the ides and the force just had to be with us.
It had been a re arranged game after Hillsborough.
Everyone wanted the Double that year.
For them to get the League Title they had to win by 2 clear goals at Anfield.
We had just got the FA Cup.
Ours to lose.
Lose we did. As it says in the article.
Arsenal won 2–0, with a last-minute goal scored by Michael Thomas – the final goal, in the final minute, of the final game of the league season – giving them their ninth First Division title and denying Liverpool the chance of a second Double.
The match is considered to be the most dramatic conclusion to a league season in the history of the English game.
Im a Red. I want us to win, to bring us back within striking range of fourth and to give us a chance of fourth spot.
Why when you look at the previous results and our home (draw) form at Anfield this season (our own problem in the final third) do I have this feeling that the party poopers are here again.
Be away with ye thoughts of dread.
Be away with ye the ghost of Mr C B*stard George.
C Mon you RedMen !
