Cant believe some people in here don't think that Champions league isn't important or is a luxury!!!!

15 million for qualifying to the knock out stages and the players that will then consider playing for us when your in champions league.....luxury, Tell that to Gerrard,Suarez and co, or even the owners!!

After the money we've spent and who we're competing with to qualify for fourth it's pathetic some people don't think it's a failure!

Agreed mate, that argument is getting old now.

I'm really getting pissed off with this buying for the future business. Fcuk it's been 23 years and we're no closer to getting Our Title back. We need to buy for now, players who are ready to go that have years ahead of them but are good now, not in 2 or 3 years time.

I miss this Competition. It's not the be all and end all but I hate not being able to watch the Champs League anymore. Can't bear to see the other teams in it and not ours.

      Nail.
      Coffin.

      Moving on.
Here's hoping for a good finish to the FA Cup.

Been a very disappointing league campaign.
In saying that, I'll be able to look forward positively if we have another shiny trophy in the cabinet by seasons end.

      Word homey.

Of course it's important. I don't think anyone is so blinkered they can't see it however, I'd like to think we can get by one more year without it and still make progress this summer and into the next season.

As for us pathetic people, I think most (if not evereyone) see the league campaign this season as a failure including myself and I started the thread.

Maybe yourself and a good few others on this board should grow some balls and start a sack Kenny thread because I think it's pathetic that so many seem to want to say "bye bye Kenny, thanks for coming" but aren't brave enough to come out with it.

You can guarantee champions league is a massive part of Fsg business plan put it this way if Liverpool are looking for naming rights for a new stadium do you think we are going to get more if we are in Europes premier competition on a continual basis or not at all.  Just to add something no one else has mentioned if English teams perform as badly in the champions league next season there will be only three English teams in it for the start of 2013. Ain't going to get any easier to qualify.

What a shame it is that "only" 3 teams from England could qualify. Pass me the hankies.

If it was up to me, the champions only would qualify from 53 countries plus the reigning European Champions, and we'd go back to knock out rounds only. The way the Champions Cup was originally designed to be.

The reality is, England have so many coefficient points from both competitions in the bank, that it will take at least 5 years of early CL and EL exits before the EPL becomes the 4th league in Europe meaning one less CL place available.

Who is kiding who?. To have 4th position is masive if you want to progress, anything else is secondary, Carling cup, FA cup, are trinkets in comparison

Maybe pull out of the those competitions next season to focus on getting that 4th spot? Same goes for the Europa League.

Champions league is absolutely vital for the club. Fsg said we will spend what we make well that is about 30million down every season take into account sponsors wont be as forthcoming either.  Correct me if im wrong but was the standard charter deal not linked to champions league qualification.
