John W Henry and Tom Werner skip Liverpool's FA Cup tie for Red SoxBoston Red Sox take on Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park
Bobby Valentine's side have lost four of first five gamesJohn W Henry and Tom Werner, Liverpool's principal owner and chairman respectively, will miss the club's FA Cup semi-final against Everton at Wembley having returned to the US to watch the Boston Red Sox take on Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park.
Liverpool's owners arrived on Merseyside on Tuesday for what transpired to be a brief and brutal visit in which they dismissed the director of football, Damien Comolli, and the club's head of sports medicine and sports science, Dr Peter Brukner.
The pair held talks with the manager, Kenny Dalglish, over this season's failings in the Premier League but, despite the importance of Saturday's semi-final to Liverpool's season, they returned to Boston for the Red Sox's first home game of the season on Friday night.
Fenway Sports Group's problems have not been confined to Liverpool this year, with the Red Sox losing four of their opening five matches of the season. The first game at Fenway Park, which celebrates its 100th anniversary next week, marked the home debut of the new Red Sox manager, Bobby Valentine. There are 162 games in a Major League Baseball season.
