A new season . We must be positive and hope we go on to better things.However I am sad to see we have despite all the money we have spent  not added to our centre backs and goalkeeper options. I am also disappointed that it appears we are not playing Sakho or Lucas at Stoke but we shall see

Try not to start with a positive and head straight to (and end on) a negative mate, sort of defeats the object.

Lovren won't be selected because he's Brendans favourite, or he would have featured a lot more often last season, than he did. He'll be in the side due to impressive performances in pre season, or niggling injuries to Sakho, and anyone else who could have stepped in.
If he starts, my guess is, it's because he's shown some decent form, even though the recent opposition was limited.
If that's the case, he obviously showed better form than the other contenders. He must have some decent form in him, as he did perform well for saints reasonable consistently. Lets hope he's found that confidence again. Better to have two players fighting it out for a place in the side, than one unconsidered due to being permanently poor. We paid decent dollars for him, so I hope he's now settled and come good.

On here because I can't sleep now. Nervous as feck, just desperate to get a decent win under the belt, and a good start to the season.

Get it right from the start Brendan. Stoke are a tough side, but we know how they will play, so you've had time to figure out a plan to beat them.
I don't believe he would've bought Big Ben if he didn't think he would thrive on the chances our midfield will create, if only Sturridge was fit as well, but with Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino, and Ibe in the squad there should be plenty of opportunities for scores.

new season new start cant replay last seasons games. I think this our best squad for a long time good mix of experience and youth as well as talent in all departments.  Its the first game so you do not "have" to win it but I think Brendan and those who played at  Stoke have a point to prove. whatever the press think he isn't under threat regardless of the first 6 games  .Expecting a hungry Liverpool team today

We love to remind everyone and each other of our history but we need to start making new history.

For this squad it's a new beginning, a fresh start, free from the shackles of the past, they need to forge ahead and make their own history.  They have it within them to achieve great things, starting today, so go get 'em lads.

Benteke was terrible.  Coutinho rusty but even when he's not fully fit he's still our best player.

Lallana, I don't know what his purpose at our club is.

Henderson and Milner both anonymous.  Can should start in place of one of them next week, probably Henderson.

Gomez looked shaky a few times but generally did ok.  Lovren much less sh*te than last season.
