Ahh, only a matter of days now. I am just glad it is nearly back. All this depressing talk about Agger and possible signings coming in has made me fed up. Need to get of to a good start. However, lets not kid ourselves, West Brom are definitely no push over. They did well with Hodgson last season, possibly even pushing above their weight. I am not fully aware of every signing they have made but I know they can pick from Lukaku, Long and Odemwinge for a forward position, none of which are crap players. Steve Clarke is also a very tactically astute coach. Whether he has enough to be manager remains to be seen.

We will need to be on the front foot from the very start. If things are not going our way, however, we need to support Brendan and the team instead of getting on their backs. We are very much work in progress. We have had a reasonably successful pre-season and have done well in the competitive games in the Europa League. With each game we have seen an improvement and I am sure we will see that a bit more from the Leverkusem game. However, it will not be easy.

Would be slightly surprised to see if Allen is included in the first XI, especially if he plays for Wales in mid-week. He has played a lot of football late and, while he is a young guy, it may make him a bit tired. To add to this, he has trained once with the team so there is no real relationship with the team yet. That said, Brendan knows him and may feel he is capable of handling this scenario and throwing him straight in.

Anyone know which strip we'll be wearing?

Their home kit already has some dark colors in it, would love to see is in red.  :)

      CAN'T WAIT!

Usually we don't play too well in our league debuts but it's great to have the football season back at last.

Seriously cannot wait until the season gets started. I'm so sick and tired of this transfer window. Let's focus our negative attention on our opponents for a change instead of each other.

With regards to a starting 11 I think it ould b madness to include any signing that arrives between now an Friday and I would extend that to Joe Allen as he has not played with his ne team mates yet. Based on taht and excluding any injuries I might be unaware of

                      Reina

      Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique

                       Lucas
          Shelvey           Gerrard

      Suarez      Carroll     Borini

I know the chances of Acrroll starting are slim but Id love to see that front 3 though id imagine Downing onthe right and Suarez in the centre would be more likely. Give Allen 20/25 minutes and in my head Sterling should be on the bench and given at least 15 minutes to stretch them

I reckon Shelvey will start ahead of Allen, especially after Allen plays tonight with Wales. The rest of the team picks itself really.

I think I remember Clarke being a big advocate of his defenders playing a deep line so it will be interesting to see how his team sets out in that retrospect, and how we work against it.

SUBS: Jones, Kelly, Carragher, Henderson, Adam, Sterling, Carroll.

I'v a feeling this will be a 2-1 win for us but in the poll I went for a draw. Not sure if Allen will come straight into the team but I hope he does. Same tempo like we have showed in the last two games and we should have too much. Borini and Carroll on to score the winner ;)

So... Joe Allen played all 90 minutes last night in his friendly.  Nuri Sahin... didn't even get on the pitch.  So (assuming he signs), why not start him?  he's had just as many pre-season games as everyone else, and Rodgers started Suarez with only a few days of training with the squad.  Plus, it would be good to get him a competitive match before the game against City.  I say we play him.  Allen can come on in the second half.

      West Bromwich Albion Vs. Liverpool

      18/08/2012 - 15:00 GMT

Game is on at 14:00 GMT, 15:00 BST

If our American/Australian fanbase take their ko timezone from 15:00 GMT, they'll miss the entire first half. If we play like we did in America though, that might not be a bad thing.

Hi guys. The new season is upon us and im sure you're all just as excited as we are. As some of u may already know there is now a red route in place leading upto the hawthorns ground meaning many of u wont have anywhere to park your cars. Unless of course u choose to pay the overpriced fees to park in industrial car parks. We at the Desi 2 pub have plenty of room for the away team to park their cars for free. We are based no more than a couple of minutes from galton bridge train station, which is literally down the road from the hawthorns. So come on down and make your selves at home before the match starts. Sandwiches can be made available upon request an a 150 seater room will be made available just for you guys, which occupys 4 large screens as well as a kitchen for BBQ if u wish to eat before the big game. The link below provides all the necessary details.
Cara can be left in out car park whilst you're at the hawthorns. We have our own taxi company providing 5/6/7+ seater cars also. Hope to see you over the weeked.
