Lets not get too carried away. Good win and performance - yes.
You're not related to that famous Red Indian are you?. What's his name again?, mmmmm. Oh yeah, Black Cloud.
F**k me. If people want to be positive and heap praise on the youngsters then they should be able to do so without people chucking in negative comments.
Just watched the game and i thought it was a brilliant performance. We had a shaky start after conceding the early goal but we showed great character to get back into the game and eventualy win it.
Brad Jones should have punched that cross out instead of trying to catch it but he's out of practice. Showed great character though to pull off a couple of great saves to deny the Baggies a second goal which could have killed the game off. Robinson had a shaky start as well, Lukaku brushing him aside on a few occasions like a rag doll. Again though as the game wore on he improved as did his confidence.
Coates was solid at the back and came so close to scoring towards the end, Carragher with a couple of howlers but also stopping a few attacks with game inteligence that is still there, compensating for his lack of pace. I must say though that he held his own in the first half when Lukaku rounded him and tried to burn him off. There's still life in the old dog yet and his experience and presence is exactly what's needed to keep the youngsters in check. Wisdom had another solid game straight off the back of the Young Boys game, solid in the tackle, confident in his passing and clearing up quite a few messes too.
Assaidi, what a performance from the young lad. He ripped Dawson a new arsehole and it's such a joy to see another genuine wide man at the Club with pace. Knocked some beautiful crosses into the box and looks a very slippery customer. Always looking to run at defenders, never looking back, never looking to pass backwards, like Downing was. Downing was a disgrace, he's lost it, the plot that is. Just doesn't look like he cares, can see him going in January unless he gets out of that bubble he's in. I'd thought he would up his game with the threat of the new boys but he just doesn't seem to give a F**k. It's so frustrating watching him when you know what he's capable of.
Henderson did ok but it seems like he's set for another Season of filling in the gaps as he did last Season. He's a grafter though and i doubt you'll see him complain, he's a team player alright. Sometimes he is too much of a team player, he can be too unselfish. He can work on that though. Pacheco made some great runs and was unlucky not to score when he hit the crossbar. Worked very hard as you'd expect but i just see a slight lack of confidence in himself with regards to his physical game.
Yesil looked very lively and was also unlucky not score. Very quick with his feet and can work a shot in a very small area with hardly any backswing. Not too scared to get stuck in either and i see a very exciting career ahead for him here. Showed the confidence to take anyone on and looking to shoot all the time.
Suso is something else. Whenever he gets the ball you're expecting something form him and he doesn't fail to deliver. Within moments of coming on he made that sublime run and pass to Assaidi to set up the second for Sahin. This lad is knocking on the door and i see no reason why he can't be selected for the Norwich game.
And last but by no means least, Nuri Sahin. Ran the game from start to finish, bossed the midfield and nobody could touch him. He came deep to get the ball, controlled the tempo, tackled his bollocks off and played several intelligent passes. Sound like someone to you?. I'm not even going to say it because i don't wish to put any pressure on him. An absolutely stunning performance by Sahin and why i give him my Man of the Match.
Another thing that has impressed me with these youngsters is how tight they are as a unit. One of the aspects of our gameplan that has concerned me in the first team is how far apart the central three and front three are at times. Last night they were watertight and that helped us to attack at pace and also defend at pace too.
And can we please put an end to all this tiki-taka bollocks and accept the truth. Words from the post match interview on LFCTV from Brendan himself.
"They have been incredible. Since my first day in here the support they have given me has been fantastic, but more importantly the support they've given the team. I think they see what it is we're trying to achieve, we're trying to play a certain way, which is The Liverpool Way."
