I hope posters do not mind me giving a rundown on Phil Taylors football career and his loyalty to L.F.C. Phil was signed from Bristol Rovers in March 1936 at 19 years of age for 5,000 quid,a lot of money in those days.He played for England Schoolboys,England B, and England.I remember Phil playing mostly as a right half for us and he won a league championship in 1947 and was in the 1950 F.A.Cup loss to Arsenal. Also not known by many but Phil could of made a living as a cricketer as he played once for Gloucestershirein 1938.
Phil retired in 1954 and joined the Liverpool coaching staff and was made acting manager in 1956 and was given the job full time in 1957 and relinquished the job to Bill Shankly in 1959.
R.I.P. Phil Taylor and thank you for your loyalty and dedication to LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUBY.N.W.A.
