Isn't the prize money of EPL title winning and UCL/FA win or throgh to later rounds more than enough to compensate that money?
It isn't for me to decide, people with far, far more data on the subject will have no doubt studied the numbers and come to their own conclusion.
Until we hit 11pm on Feb 1st we won't know what that decision was.
What I will say is that we may net (I'm pulling random figures out of the air here) £30m extra for winning the league. Is it wise to spend that amount of money on a player who would normally be worth only £15m during the summer? Like I said in my earlier post, we aren't City, where an extra £10m to secure a player is virtually nothing to them in the grand scheme of things.
I'm not saying I don't think we should buy someone, I'm trying to explain that the decision to sign someone isn't as straightforward as "need centre half, buy centre half".
