Agree that if Studge can get games under his belt and get sharpness back, he'll get goals. And we saw end of last season with Cou deep and Studge up top, that can work very well. I still remember him rounding the keeper against WH, super strikers finish.
But I'd still have sold him in the summer gone - IF IF, ONLY IF we'd put the money toward a guy who'd get 20 a season. City have Aguero, Utd have Lukaku, Spuds Kane, Chavs Morata. etc Studge ended last season well, we'd have got good money for him. We didn't have anyone in the top10 scorers last season. No reason to expect any different this season. Can you win a PL without a guy like that? Don't think so.
There's other reasons tho too. His injury record obviously. But another big one is I don't think Klopp fancies him. Even when fit last season, he didn't get a game. Baffled me, Firmino's a good player, but not the natural finisher Studge is. What's the point in keeping him in that case?, it's not going to do his confidence any good, and a striker needs that more than any other position.
BUT we didn't sell. So it's back to all the if, buts and maybes ... which aren't what win you PLs. As much as I really like Daniel, and think he's the best striker we have on his day, just think he's always going to be the 'nearly' man. REALLY HOPE he proves me very wrong though...
