I watched the video of Studge's 50 Prem goals, and it got me all nostalgic. He really was (and still is) an exceptional footballer. Even though he no longer has searing pace, he still has a great shot and incredible instincts. However, there is 1 moment that isn't on that highlight video that really demonstrates an area of Studge's game that I feel is criminally underrated. Go to the 1:25 part of the video below:
https://youtu.be/fc0e4dJ6zEYThe dummy that put Suarez clean through for a 1v1 with the keeper. In a split second, Studge read the the situation and reacted perfectly. He knew where Luis was. He knew where the defenders were and how his movement would pull them out of position. He read the trajectory of the pass and knew where it was going. And with one little move, he took 3 defenders completely out of the play and allowed his teammate to stroll clean through on goal.
The vision, intelligence, and anticipation he demonstrated in this moment still amaze me. It's part of the reason why I'm confident that he can still be a top contributor for us, as long as he can stay fit. Keep it up lad.
