I wanted Sterling on even though Downing was having a great game but it just didn't work out.

That moment Suarez fell to the floor at full time showed enough for me.

I am gutted, I have no idea how the players must feel. We did not deserve that.
We lost some momentum when we made the subs.

Completely agree, Assaidi for Hendo pushed Enrique back who was by far the MOTM  (Luis might steal it though for the 2 sublime free kicks; the second was out of this world)

Watching Carras pass back again you can see he just took his eye off it which made him not connect fully.

I wouldn't be a big fan of Allen , but he a good game and i can't understand the reasoning of subbing him . He was getting up front a lot more and done well to get the goal . He fought hard for it .

That is so true mate its nice to see the passion.

Well even my hubby as just said " I know we are rivals at football, but that was a shame you went out after the performance your team put in" and coming from a Manc fan it say's it all.

Agree with that. He really offered nothing.

To be fair, the theory behind the subs is spot on.

We just scored. Had huge momentum. Needed just one more goal. So straight away, you throw on two attacking players to build on that momentum, confuse the opposition (fresh players running at the defence) and get that extra goal.

Problem is, the players did not fulfill their job. Assaidi (sp?) put in a shift, but Shelvey was poor again. Combine that with the fact that we suddenly changed our game and sat back.. and well, the subs didn't work out.

Sterling was poor too. He has been for a while now. It's like he's forgotten how to get past a player, and his moves are sooo predictable.

I think the subs fu**ed our momentum up big style.

"If it ain't broken, that it apart and see why not" springs to mind.

Just fell short but proud of our lads tonight.

Like others have said, I'm perplexed by the manager's first substitutions as we were doing okay at the time.

Cannot believe some people are having various pops at players or the manager after tonight. Seriously? What the f**k guys. I know we're all disappointed to be out, but we were terrific today. I'm so proud of this team for the effort. It was faultless. And you know what, no one should have their head down after tonight.

If you want to criticize anything, blame the lack of clinical finishing last week. An away goal would have been crucial to helping us advance. But, we squandered our opportunities to nick a goal on the road and it came back to bite us on the ass.

As for tonight, you can't ask for anymore from the players who gave their all and the manager who made the risky move to bring on three attackers. We burned ourselves out and we came up short. But the heart was there. The fight was there. I'm more proud of this team tonight than I was after beating Swansea 5-0 on Sunday.

He's nothing special really. People say he's a top attacking fullback but his end product is terrible. Everyone loves him though because he scores the occasional worldy and has decent feet to beat a man.

The subs were a gamble and I can see why he made them. But I agree that Allen was much more influential than Shelvey. Assaidi did enough for me to argue he wasn't a bad trade for Henderson. Downing, in hindsight, should have never come off.

It's easy to look back and criticize, but yes, the subs were a mistake.

We really need an air threat at the moment. We had like 50 corners and 25 free kicks there. It's not going to be Carroll anymore, so it has to be a CB. Agger is not that good a header. I've said it a lotta times but I really miss the big greek, he used to make all kinds of mess happen in the box.
