That’s the dilemma in modern football
Because it’s been distorted so much by money it’s hard for clubs to act normally- even for clubs that are fighting to stay in the Prem or get promoted- they spend so much money that when it goes wrong it cripples the club
So many great clubs are screwed because they tried to keep up - overpaying for sub standard players because the market dictates it
I hate the fact there is more talk about transfers and the demand to spend money over anything else in the sport - it’s ugly and it’s driven from wanting to match the current riches
I absolutely agree. The thing for me is, if we acted like the oil clubs I think that would be me done with football.
The problem if you just buy everyone and pay the most in wages, every achievement is tainted. What’s success without work, it would feel hollow and worthless.
I’d rather see us fight and win every now and again, as I’ve always known us to do that rather than blow everyone out the water with salary etc. unfortunately I think the way football has gone is that even the occasional success is more and more out of reach.
But at the end of the day, I’ll never stop following Liverpool so all you can do is back us and hope football somehow gets away from what it’s become.
