I was pissed at him for that ridiculous dive. He went round Krul and had an open goal and he dived...

I don't think he dived. Think he just lost his balance and fell down. He didnt even appeal for a penalty which to me shows it wasn't a dive

Or that he quickly realized just how embarrassing it was?

Toon chief: Carroll is worth 'f*** all'

Published 22:59 12/11/11 By Brian McNally

Derek Llambias, the man who brokered the deal that made Andy Carroll the most expensive Englishman in football history, has sensationally claimed: “He’s worth f*** all!”

The Toon MD’s disparaging verdict on England striker Carroll (below) came when he was giving a group of Newcastle fans an insight into the £35million deal that took the England striker to Liverpool in January.

Llambias insists that Newcastle got the better of the deal.

The Anfield club’s first bid was £30m and Llambias told the fans:

“I have to admit that £30m for Andy Carroll is a lot of money.”

      When one supporter asked him
      “Is he worth £30m?”
Llambias responded: “No — he’s worth f*** all.”
He then explains that after rejecting the £30m offer, Newcastle refused to sell even for £35m unless Liverpool paid the entire fee up front.

A move that forced Liverpool to ask Chelsea to increase their first instalment of the £50m they had already agreed to pay for Fernando Torres!

Llambias explained: “It is about control.

“We had the control. We knew the Torres deal was there.

“We drew that f****** deal, perhaps the ultimate.

“So £30m? F*** off! Don’t waste my time and I slammed the phone down.

“£35m? Everybody including Pardew [manager Alan Pardew] all agreed.

“But the £35m they wanted to pay over four years.
It was rubbish. Mike (Ashley) said — and he is a brave boy Mike I promise you — get all the £35m up front.

“We got it all up front and then they never paid us on time and we charged them 12 grand f****** interest.”

and to have our noses rubbed in it.

We'll put another f**king 6 past em this coming season as well.

He may be attempting to rub our noses in it but I sincerely doubt he conducted business in that manner. There'd not be a a board in the land that would want to do business with them.

Through "no fault of his own"?  what short memories some have.  I suppose it wasn't his fault when he never made runs into the box when our midfielders had a pass on, or the rest of the time when he just planted himself somewhere without moving and then whined that Johnson or Downing didn't airmail the cross in from fifty yards away, or the time he chose to dive in the box when he was one-on-one with Krul at Newcastle,  or when he cursed out Kenny when he subbed him in the same game.

No, none of that was his fault.  He's just an innocent victim.

Not often I can say this, but I fully agree. Good post. I'll give you a + in a little bit.

Well I for one would have to say I'm slightly relieved he's going. He lost me with that performance away to Newcastle in March/April 2012, topping it off when he walked off the pitch swearing at the bench and almost crying. What sort of attitude was that? Terrible. Aside from that he was caught in the wrong positions half the time (particularly floundering around in the centre circle while the Liverpool attack was desperately trying to look for something in the box) and the fact that he had the touch of an elephant on stilettos. He should never have been at the club.

Good Luck to Andy at West Ham, just didn't work out for him here, and that's a shame because I wanted him to succeed. But we'll move on and hopefully invest the money into a better replacement for the team

Two people are responsible for the terrible piece of business that brought him to the club and neither of them are Andy Carroll - good luck lad.

Indeed, but only one person is responsible for the shocking lack of effort he put in during the entire time he was here.

I've read, somewhere, that the fee could rise to £17.5  :o

If that's true and you couple it with the reported £2m 'loan fee' we got last season; there shouldn't be too many still unhappy.

I mean, as his biggest critics often pointed out; "he's sh*te" and "a waste of £35m... worth £10m/£15m tops". That being the case (and who's going to argue): we've done alright here. It won't stop the trolls yapping but you get my drift.

We've broken even for FFP mate that's all that should matter, he's not going to show as a loss on  our books and our current transfer budget will not have to make up  for that loss in terms  of spending, so  I think we can all be happy, it was a signing that didn't work out, most clubs have them.

A panic buy that could have worked but didn't.  The fee payed for him to NUFC was a product of the situation Liverpool found themselves in and is/was not a valuation of the player.
The fact that it didn't work out was down to the player, he needed to
      a) adapt his game
      b) adjust to a move outside his comfort zone (ie Newcastle)

He didn't do either of these so a transfer to WH for 15 mil is good business.  After seeing how quick we play with Sturridge as the point man I can't envision AC being able to do that.

I don't really want to dump on him as he's just leaving. But I'm more than happy to see Carroll being sold and for us to receive that much money. If we remove any emotion from it: It was a panic buy and a huge gamble. We brought in other players suited to his strengths in the summer. He had some good moments here and there, but those were unfortunately the exceptions rather than the norms. For the most part, the gamble backfired.

Can never take away that winner vs Everton though. Some goal that!
