It's always hard to gauge a player on the basis of preseason friendlies, but I'm liking the early signs from Aspas. Although these games don't mean too much in the grand scheme of things, it's nice that he's notched a couple of goals already. Should help him be confident going into the season.

I think he could do a job like Kuyt did for us: score some goals while playing on the wings and he seems to be better technically than Kuyt.

      God I miss Kuyt!

I think it's very important not to put that kind of pressure on him. I see him as being a technically gifted Dirk Kuyt. One that works hard but isn't going to bang loads of goals in. I see him getting about 10 over the course of the season. You have to remember, of Suarez stays and Sturridge plays, you wonder where he will fit in. On the wing? Behind the strikers? Part of a front 3? On the bench?

He will chip in but let's not get too excited just yet.

Much better today and some excellent moves. Should have scored from Allens pass, and was unlucky with the swivel. Well done to him.

Certainly should be ahead of Borini, there's no doubt about that. I said I thought he'd do well coming over here from what I'd seen of him and glad he seems to be settling pretty quick. Our most exciting signing so far, hoping for more to come though.

The boys seems to be involved in everything during the friendlies.

Excellent buy in my opinion. Doesn't look scared at all, full of confidence

Looks alright from what I've seen of him so far and good to see a new player get on the score sheet regularly albiet against weak opposition.

I was talking to one of my mates about Aspas.  He is a big fan of La Liga and he was full of praise for Iago.  Said he expects him to really shine for us this season.  I must admit, I'd not really seen much of him prior to preseason, but the lad has certainly impressed me.  His movement is great, he has a good first touch, an eye for goal, and he always seems to make smart decisions when on the ball.  I think he will be a very solid player for us this season.  Perhaps not one to do spectacular things on a regular basis, but one who we can count on to do the little things that help win games - like Dirk used to do for us!!

Of course in contrast, Suarez has looked crap this pre-season against weak competition so who knows.

Haven't see this evening's game as yet but just caught the goals (see link) and was VERY impressed with Aspas movement for his goal, have to say it was Fowler or Owenesque.

This lad looks a snip for the price and I think he'll be a real contributor this season.

      Another well taken finish.

At the end of the day, this fella knows how to score. If he can take this form into the new season, then we'll be looking at a player who's gonna score somewhere in the region of 20 goals.

He's a forward and forward's are judged on their goals - he has 4 in 6. That equates to doing a F***ing good job in my book.

Haven't seen the game yet but good to see him on the score sheet again.

As Billy said a forward is judged on goals, like it or not, and this guy certainly knows where the net is.

He really played well today, while he could have had 3 or 4 with better finishing, it was great that he was in position to take the chances to begin with. I have a feeling this guy is going to do a proper job for us and become a fan favorite. Just my gut feeling.

Just commented in the match thread about how he is always in the right positions AZ. I'm watching the game now for the first time and he has impressed.

Has the look of a goal scorer about him.

Shame his chip didn't find the net! Pre Season or not, he has hit the ground running, seems to be in the right place at the right time. Hopefully he will carry this goal a game all through next season!

Good little player, but can't see him troubling PL defences just yet. Too light weight.  This was proved today all too easy against Celtics 2nd string.
