Confidence is shot to sh*t - caused mainly by being a) nowhere near good enough b) no effective / developmental goalkeeping coaching and c) played for too bloody long when he desperately needed resting because of lack of a viable alternative.

If we do nothing else in the January window we MUST sign a keeper. Why isn't the Valdes deal viable is he's fit - surely, at his age, he's gonna want regular football and he's not gonna get that with the other shower.

throw in the manager saying he was out for an indefinite period, a stupid comment which has bitten Brendan on the bum

He isn't as bad as he looks clearly down on confidence and us slagging him off won't help . He is miles ahead of Jones . Man management has been poor Rodgers dropping him for someone who can't even hold down Australia's number one role .

We were quiet ok until Jones came off. Mignolets lack of confidence was just staggering and invited the pressure. Hope Brads injury isnt serious. Nothing is worse then a nervy ´keeper affecting those in front of him.

Come to think of it, Migs would fit in perfectly at Everton, I'd love to see him in goals for them!   :lmao:

can you imagine what it was like during the corner that they had after Mignolet let that ball roll out?

just imagine what the lads were thinking with Mignolet screaming directions at them, knowing that HE was the one who just gave away the corner.

Mate can you imagine what Carra would of been shouting at Migs!!! Think this is a problem no real leaders at the back.

My own opinion that he is one of those who thinks he has made it and grew lazy after signing for us. Look, he was actually quite good.

Playing in CL, World Cup, signed by the biggest club in the world, good wages etc. There's room for me to relax."

      That's it. Disaster mentality.

We have nobody else and his heads gone, so it's a bit of a quandary. I'd tell him to keep it simple. From set pieces punch everything, on the ground launch everything. don't feck about trying to pick anyone out, just launch it.

You could make a saves video like that of every keeper though. It doesn't really show him smashing through a crowded box and punching or catching a cross.

Two things stood out for me the first being that the number of times the ball was passed back to him reduced by about half on previous games, secondly when it did he took no touches and punted it long.

Honestly he was better tonight, aided I think in part by his defenders playing the ball out for him (See Can and Lovren).

Wouldn't be hard for him to be better, that's the sad part. Still hoping we sign someone good in the window.

Needs to work in training on improving his kicking.

He is sh*t when it comes to ball distribution either long or short.

Needs a breather to gain his confidence back. He's just too jittery on the ball.

Cant believe we let Pepe go for Migs, absolutely ridiculous.

Cant execute the managers wish of building from the back, always panicking.

Great shot stopper though. Need more from him.

      Still needs replacing IMO.

Won't list the errors already mentioned above, but his positioning and judgement are still very poor.

How many times last night did he stand and watch, or wave his arms to say the ball was going well wide, only for it hit the woodwork or come very close to going in?

It just often feels like he has no idea where he is in relation to his goal.

He's being asked to play in a way that isn't his natural game and he is struggling to do that at the top level.

      His confidence is shot.

Yes, he may lack the requisite mentality but a large part of the blame has to be put at the the transfer process which brought him here.

He's a goalie, surely there is only one way to play, and that is stop the ball going in to the net.
