Mamadou Sakho (Liverpool > Crystal Palace)

Although Mignolet seems to be getting all the flak I thought Sakho and Toure were terrible last night.

Alongside Moreno the 3 of them were a clusterfuck in the first goal.
The second one after Lallana screwed up the near post clearance, Sakho should have been much closer to Giroud but just got out muscled having positioned himself on the wrong side of goal.
The third one well what do you expect from a 34 yeard old CB whose legs have gone.

Hopefully Matip will be an improvement on our comedic CB's.

No, it really doesn't. He had a bad passing game against the Arse, but typically he's one of the best passing CB's in the world. Look it up.

Would be silly to put him into best in the world at anything at this stage in particular his passing.

Struggled against Arsenal I said this in defence of Lovren and will say the same in defence of Mama Moreno is a left back who is sh*t at defending. His positioning is awful as is his awareness I would love to see a proper left back playing next to either Mama or Dejan to see what overall impact it has on their performance.

not really been the player he was prior to his knee injury seems a little nervous at the back maybe just doesnt want to get injured again and it was playing on his mind. he needs to chill out on these lunging tackles and stay on his feet more. i would be interested to see him and Caulker together for the Man U game. He's decent at passing sometimes, but gotta agree- he does blast the ball at a team mate sometimes. Far too much power/pace in his passes.

He's good at passing more than 90% of the time. His quick passes into feet allow us to transition more quickly. They're very effective especially when Coutinho is the recipient.

Yes, but notice in the last few games even when he has got his passing right, he has hit them with far too much power, Leaving Lucas or Can to take multiple touches as the ball ricochets off their feet, thereby effectively slowing down the transition.

Just noticed this recently, never before thought his passing was a suspect.

Hoping he is still getting back into the swing of things with the injury. His passing is usually spot on

He along with Toure were not even up to park league standard today.

he seems like a decent bloke and has a good heart etc

but defending is something he needs to learn, positioning, when to go for a ball and how to pass it to a team mate without blasting it in the middle of the park hoping no one cuts out the obvious ball

It's weird. When we have Skrtel and/or Lovren fit, Sakho seems the best out of them with at least one of the other 2 making mistakes, but as soon as one of them gets injured, it's as though the one playing well then turns crap and we want the injured one back. It's a viscous circle.

Which, in a nutshell means none of them are top top defenders.
