Can't help but find this topic has a hint of jealousy about it. FFP won't work, the only thing that could remotely work is a wage cap so these teams that come into money and sign players from teams of a higher stature and competing on every front by offering them crazy amounts of money. For example, City signing Robinho from Real Madrid, Eto'o to Anzhi from Inter Milan and more recently Monaco signing Falcao from Atletico Madrid who are getting closer and closer to being able to challenge Barcelona! Does anyone actually think these clubs would actually be able to sign these types of player for anything other than offering them a crazy amount of money? Like hell they could!
If we had the Monaco owners, or PSG's or City's then I very much doubt many people at all would be complaining. People say about the ethics of the club and how it would ruin the values of the club but people seem to forget, we very nearly had DIC take us over on a couple of occasions, who would have provided us with the ludicrous amounts of money.
If we had the Arab oil money people wouldn't complain and I don't believe them for a second when they say they would.
We all want us to be dominating the world of football and winning the league once again but the fact is that in order to have success the more the years go by, you will have to be able to spend big!
These clubs that are owned by Arabs are obviously going to be able to get round the FFP because they will be in the position where they can get incredible sponsorship deals. Like the PSG one mentioned previoisly, they are owners from that part of the world with a lot of contacts so in order to benefit of course they will strike that sort of sponsorship deal. Its no different to our owners getting sponsorship deals or whatever from America so it's no good saying -
PSG's latest sponsorship deal, worth up to £200m A YEAR, is with, wait for it, The Qatar Tourism Authority.
What an obscenity.
Because if our owners struck a deal like that I doubt anyone of the 16k plus people signed up on LFCReds would be complaining.
Yes Arab oil money is ruining the world of football but the players and other clubs without it are to blame just as much because they are the ones that are demanding crazy money from the wealthy clubs and are more than happy to accept it when it gets put their way. If FIFA, UEFA or whoever were really that bothered then there would be ways to stop it but we have to face facts, Football will become more and more money orientated, FFP means sod all and the Governing bodies don't really give a sh*t because they will end up reducing the amount of money that goes their way.
If we had Arab oil money, this topic wouldn't have been started.
