Hull City Tigers vs Liverpool FC

After a breathtaking match against the bluenose at the weekend, we return to a fixture where we face someone who we are expected to beat. It's your typical fixture, that fixture where you place down a £10 bet on a Luis Suarez hatrick, or a walk in the park 4 nil trouncing! But it's also one of those fixtures where complacency can play a huge part, and where a silly 2 points can be lost. Nothing other than a win will be accepted, and the redmen know this.

With a very busy December coming up, we can expect a few changes in the team come Sunday. Expect Jon Flanagan to feature once again at left back. He performed terrifically on Sunday, and you would've never had thought that was his first Merseyside derby. Johnson will likely continue at RB, with a possible change up in the two centre back positions. Expect to see Sakho start, and maybe even Toure too. Am fully expecting Brendan to go with Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, and Coutinho in midfield again.

Now a question for you all: Do we give Joe Allen another opportunity to prove his worth, or do we give Victor Moses some rare playing time? Or do we scrap that and go with the two up front (assuming Sturridge is fit)?

      KC stadium

      Hull so far:

      Position: 13th with 14 points
      Goals scored: 9

      Goals scored: 24
      Goals against: 13
      Last match: Everton 3-3 Liverpool
Top league scorer: Luis Suarez & Daniel Sturridge (9)

It's going to be a hull(sorry) of a different match from last weekend that's for sure, this is for me a game we can afford to change things around a bit imo, so this my selection,

                                                               Mignolet
                                                     Toure    Skrtle  Sakho
                                                Johnson               Flanaghan
                                                       Gerrard     Lucas
                                                            Coutinho
                                                       Suarez   Sturridge

Bench; Jones, Agger, Henderson, Alberto, Moses, Ibe, Sterling

No F***ing about, straight for the kill from the off, Hull will be fired up but i cannot see how 'Ol' beachball Heid will have any influence for them, they will be f***in  bricking it thats for sure, we are a wounded animal, hungry, determined and full of confidence, they are just sh*te, it's a no brainer, i'm going for a away trouncing at leas scoring 3, C'mon Redmen back to winning ways with another heart stopping display.

I can't believe I am saying this,  Flanagan has to be our left back till atleast next year.  I think he is just getting better right when we need him.

Shorter names are easier to remember and therefore promote the 'brand' of a football club better... according to those who run their club.

Hopefully back to winning ways against these. I think we will see a couple of changes in defence, with maybe Henderson or even Gerrard given a rest, and Agger and Skrtel swopped out for Toure and Sakho.

                                        Mignolet

      Johnson             Toure          Sakho             Flanagan

                                 Gerrard   Lucas    Allen

                                         Coutinho

                             Sturridge        Suarez

I think we will win this 2-0 with the usual suspects getting our goals.

Hull Tigers - christ almighty, what are things coming to (and what kind of a tosser of an owner do they have). Not sure how that makes them more marketable (unless they start playing basketball or rugby league) ... would've thought maybe buying a few decent players might be a better plan.
Anyway, short of feeling sorry for Hull fans, I hope we clobber the sh*te out of them :) We need to tighten up more at the back after the weekend, and if the lads up front keep doing their stuff, you can't help but feel more confident week on week going into these type of games. Expect to see Studge back in (Allen benched) and yet to see whether Agger holds onto his spot ahead of Sahko.

Mignolet; Flanagan, Skrtel, Sakho, Johnson; Moses, Lucas, Gerrard, Coutinho; Sturridge, Suarez.

I'd shift Johnson over to the left as I think Coutinho plays a lot better with a full back pushing on down his side.

Can't believe you are dropping the Agger. And poor old Toure too. :whip:

      Anyways...

I'd go back to 3 at the back.

Johnson should be marauding down the wing. Coutinho should be just being the SAS and I'd probably give Moses a go on the left.

Probably leave on the bench either Gerrard or Lucas - BR won't drop Stevie so leave Lucas out?

Got a lot of big games coming up. Squad will have to be rotated so we should be starting it now.

We need henderson here.  Lucas has been playing like a boss as a DM... but neither Gerrard nor coutinho has the energy to go up and down the field for 90 mins.  Hendo by far is the midfield with that endurance for us.  I am a fan of henderson but am not deluded in believing he is without flaws.... however currently he is a starting XI for us.  Allen.. and i feel for the lad, is so low in confidence that it is hurting him.  He must beat himself up privately all the time... he was a ghost last game... except for when he missed and when he was subbed off.  I seriously said outloud.. oh yea allen is playing... around the 20ish minute mark of last game.... and that is unacceptable for a player in his position.  the commentator should have his name on the tip of his tongue.  if you look at his running patterns.. he isnt getting into the right positions or he is playing the super easy / safe ball that anyone of us can do.  For his position, we need brave players  8)

Hopefully back to winning ways against these. I think we will see a couple of changes in defence, with maybe Henderson or even Gerrard given a rest, and Agger and Skrtel swopped out for Toure and Sakho.

I would play same formation as we did against Fulham, but bringing in Flanagan and Sakho for Cissokho and Agger.

If Sturridge isn't fit, I'd go with Moses and change formation

I like the sound of a three with Moses and Johnson wide JD.

      Johnson  Gerrard  Allen  Moses

Like the look of your team, but not sure whether I agree with Allen.

For me Henderson has had a good start to the season.  I'm intrigued to see how he would get on in the middle with Gerrard with this formation when he

      a) doesn't have to be the link to the forwards (like he was often when Coutinho was out)

      or

      b) out on the wing

I could well be wrong, but I think his energy and workrate when he is confined to a more central job could provide a lot of assistance to Gerrard.
